i may have mentioned this before but i have an uncle (my mom's only sibling), who is very, very, VERY ill - like may not make it to the wedding. she just spoke with his doctor (she has medical clearance) who said that his condition is 'guarded' --- any thoughts on what the heck that means in realistic terms?
I know htis is a bizarre question but i'm so overwhelmed with so many things right now

usually that means that the patient is no longer in critical condition, but its unsure whether they could be back in critical condition. You're basically watched closely until you're improving.

I googled.. sorry sweetie had to cause I google eveything.. it said Guarded means closely watched, tightly protected .. I will pray for your uncle and your family sweetie!! Hope he can make it to the wedding!

A Guarded condition is relative to being critical, with out being in ICU (intensive Care). However, their condition is serious and they are watched almost just as closely as someone in critical.

I dont mean to ask this but since I regretfully had the experience last year with my Dad...
DId they sign a do not resessitate(sp)? Cuz he may be guarded cuz they didnt sign it and they may have to bring him back to life if he goes into arrest.
