I often introduce myself as Jennifer, only b/c most people think I'm saying 'Jan' when I say Jen. As for the spelling, it changes from day to day.

I don't mind being called Jennifer, but it does come across as very formal to me. The weird thing is that even though my handle is Jenny, very few people call me that unless it's combined with another word such as 'Jenny Girl' or 'Jenny Penny'.

Thats so funny most people think that I am saying 'Jan'
Only a handful ofpeople call me Jenny...My Dad, My 4 year old niece (but she calls me 'Aunt Jenny', my sister and my BIL's entire family.. i guess because my sister does..

Metphan is because I'm a die hard Met fan and a huge Phish fan (the band). I spelled phan like that b/c Phish is spelled with a ph.

I introduce myself as Jennifer, but EVERYONE shortens it to Jenn immediately. I don't mind.

Patrick, my very close friends, and my siblings call me Fern (which I admit has grown on me, although I resisted it for years!), which is an offshoot of Fer, which my siblings called me growing up because my mom hated when people called me Jenn or Jenny.

I am (or was 31 years ago) a 'July baby' - my birthday is July 18. I will also be getting married next July 5 so July is a very significant month for me. It is my favorite month because, as a teacher, I do not work at all in July nor do I need to worry about preparing for the upcoming school year.

Claud2001 - What is 'Claud' short for? My family calls me Claud, short for Claudia. You don't see too many Claud's or Claudia's around.

When I was growing up, a cop friend of my mom gave me this nickname and everyone in my family and my close friends call me Shamma, the 96 is the year I pledged my sorority and the best year of my life.

Well, my first name is Meghan, but it is pronounced Meeeegan (with a long e). When my sister was born she couldn't say meghan so it came out Mimi, and as she got older it was shortenned to Mims (pronounced meeeeeeeems). 107 is my bday (october 7)

When people first look at my screen name, they think it says 'Marn - less'...actually it's pronounced 'Marn - els' like those 2 old guys and the wine coolers 'Bartles and James'...my first name is Marni, and my old college roommate and MOH always called me 'Marnles and James'...so that's where it comes from!!

I'm so glad this thread was started, cause I always wanted to explain that!!

My name is Lea - nickname is LeeLee; but FH thought FleeFlee was much funnier so now he and the rest of the inlaws call me fleeflee. I used to hate it, but if you can't beat 'em, join 'em, so I made it my screen-name.

I got Sasha from my FH. He comes up with nicknames for me all the time, but he got Sasha from a sweet little Japanese candy his mother brought home from a trip (she's a flight attendant that goes to Japan each week).

96 is the year we started dating. Also the numbers '9' and '6' appear frequently for FH (address, phone numbers, license plate numbers, etc.). It's weird sometimes!

Lulu is my nickname from when I was little. My younger sister couldn't pronounce Lauren so she called me Lulu and it stuck.

When I was heavily into carshows, I was forever washing/waxing my car. It was like a cigarette for a smoker. Anyway, Bob's cousin races cars and he used to make fun of my car because it had no power an it was a chamois mobile (all show, no go). So I changed the way I spelled it and have been nicknamed Shamee ever since.
