what ever happened to, 'if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say it at all??'...

what ever happened to, 'if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say it at all??'...

one of my 'friends' tells me all excited that she is going to a wedding at my venue the other night. So when I enthusiastically say 'how good was the food right??!!' (because that is what they are known for), she says, 'Honestly, it really wasn't that good, but I think that is was because it was a huge wedding with at least 250 people. I was there another time with less people & it was really good..' ok #1, this place deals with upto something like 800 people if it had to, & 2, why would you say that??!! I have NEVER in my entire life heard complaints about the food there..We were just there in April for the showcase & were amazed with how good it was!..I just kind of laughed to myself like, I don't care if they fed me rocks on a plate, I would NEVER say that to someone, especially my supposed good friend!..so then I asked if the DJ was good at least (since this is the same that we are using) & she says , 'they were pretty good, we had a good time, I'm sure the food was just rushed..'..then like a half hour later she tries to redeem herself with the 'cocktail hour was good'

I know places can have off days & everyone has a difference of opinion,..and maybe it was disgusting, but I am just in shock that knowing we're having ours there she could so easily say all this..

..I JUST CAN'T...

while i totally understand that it's upsetting to hear what she said (i would TOTALLY feel the same), you did ask her how the food was.....did you not want an honest opinion?

I said it in a 'how good was the food right??' sort of way...I guess that's just me I would NEVER say that to anyone especially knowing they booked there..

i agree. personally, i wouldn't say that either. and i totally understand if she's the kind of person who says things like that to be irritating and also if you were really just asking a rhetorical question and wanted to be reassured, that is totally different. just the way you put it originally it seemed like you were asking a question and she was answering it. but i get it now.

I'd personally never say anything, even if the food was terrible. At this point , you booked your venue and you aren't going to change it, so what is the point of upsetting you ?

sorry your upset. You did ask her the question. I totally get what your saying..She could have just said that she didnt remember.
I wouldnt take it personal. you may not even be picking out what she ordered. Maybe her taste buds are off.

I understand why you were upset, but honestly I'd be upset if my BM DIDN'T tell me her concerns about my venue. If I were you I'd ask her exactly what it was she didn't like, so you can be sure to address it with them when the time comes for a tasting, or be sure not to put that particular item on your menu.

Aw I'm so sorry girl..sux wen the people whose opinion u value most give u a sucky review. Honestly tho you can't please everyone. I've come to terms that I'm sure one if not some people won't like something about my wedding, but u n ur fh matter on that day and that's that! Next time tell her thank u for ur opinion but ur sure ur guests will make ur wedding 100 times better than her friends!

UGH, that s/ucks....

The same thing happened to me, last year. We have the same RH. I've never personally had a bad experience with the food there...I've been to two HS functions there, a wedding, a showcase, a tasting, etc. My friend and BM had a wedding there last year, and she really struggled with telling me, but in the end decided that I should know. She said that CH was awesome, but the entrees weren't that great, and that everyone got a different choice, so it wasn't like just the steak or just the fish was bad. But then said the dessert and rest of meal was ok, just not the entrees. At first I was a little annoyed, defensive, etc...but after all was said and done I'm glad she told me because I don't like to put my head in the sand either. Nothing you can do if there's an off night...but hearing that it does happen from time to time makes it a little better if it happens to you God forbid, that at least it wasn't JUST your wedding.

Im sure the food was good and all that matters is that you are happy and like the food im sure it was an off day. dont worry about it but I would also b pissed.

I completely can see why you are upset and I DEF understand why you would think that it's rude the way she said things but to me it sounds like she tried REALLY hard to not hurt your feelings. And you did ask a question to her. Maybe if you don't want to know the answer then you shouldn't have asked. I cringe every time I ask that kind of question scared of what I am going to hear come out of people's mouth but sometimes I get helpful hints on something to look out for. ALSO, that's her taste buds, not everyone else that you invited. Don't stress over it and better to be safe then sorry, try not to ask anyone else that until after you wedding!

I wouldn't be upset. My sister went to a wedding at my RH and was completely honest with me and I was glad because I brought it up to my RH.

Talk to your banquet manager. Let them know the feedback you received so it does not happen at your wedding.

i cant blame her for being honest with you... but that was her personal opinion, so it doesnt speak for everyone...

also, what does the amount of people have to do with the food being good or not?
