what ever happened to, 'if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say it at all??'...
Original post by LaBellaVita622
one of my 'friends' tells me all excited that she is going to a wedding at my venue the other night. So when I enthusiastically say 'how good was the food right??!!' (because that is what they are known for), she says, 'Honestly, it really wasn't that good, but I think that is was because it was a huge wedding with at least 250 people. I was there another time with less people & it was really good..' ok #1, this place deals with upto something like 800 people if it had to, & 2, why would you say that??!! I have NEVER in my entire life heard complaints about the food there..We were just there in April for the showcase & were amazed with how good it was!..I just kind of laughed to myself like, I don't care if they fed me rocks on a plate, I would NEVER say that to someone, especially my supposed good friend!..so then I asked if the DJ was good at least (since this is the same that we are using) & she says , 'they were pretty good, we had a good time, I'm sure the food was just rushed..'..then like a half hour later she tries to redeem herself with the 'cocktail hour was good'
I know places can have off days & everyone has a difference of opinion,..and maybe it was disgusting, but I am just in shock that knowing we're having ours there she could so easily say all this..
..I JUST CAN'T...

I would ask for specifics, what was the best thing she tasted there what was the worst. Mention that to your banquet manager.
The size does matter ( ) ...I had a birthday party at my favorite restaurant and the food was a notch below. It's really hard to get the food right for a huge group, but certain entree's are more sensitive and certain entree's are less sensitive.
Beef and chicken can kind of hang in there, fish, pasta, lamb are a little more delicate.
Tell your manager the quality of the food is very important to you.
Day of the week and season are also big considerations for food and flowers.
Certain seafoods are much better at different times of the year, same with produce. Find out what is the most seasonal and local and fresh, and put that in your menu.
Sorry you friend pissed you off....I do get it. To be honest, the food at my wedding was eh...and I am the only one who cared.

Some people should just keep there comments to themselves!! That was just mean and uncalled for. Goes to show you people's true character. I would never tell someone there RH's food was terrible especially if she is your friend. Oh well... Just ignore it..

I totally understand & appreciate all of your responses. If it really bothered me or I was worried, I'd call & say something or be crazy on top of them about the quality of the food. I know for the girls who share the same hall feel the same we have NOTHING to worry about, even on a 'bad day'...truth be told, it was said in an attempt to aggravate me. This is not the first time she has tried, nor will it be the last. She introduced FH & I because she was dating his best friend. Since then they have broken up & she is now dating someone else. We have grown apart but in case they get back together (they break up all the time) I can't chance it by telling her off.. I was sharing this on here to show how rude people can be especially for those who have has a similar situation.

It's funny how this post has so many responses...I think it's because we all have that 'honest' friend...the kind that don't think before they speak. There is a way to be honest without being hurtful and your friend is either one of 2 things..jealous or simply has no etiquette. as long as your happy, that's all that matters...people will always have something to say, simple as that

She sounds like she was very vague, could it be that she's just really picky? There's a way to tell people stuff so that they are informed, and there's a way to tell so that it hurts feelings. She clearly backtracked but it was too late at that point. I would go with your gut feeling - you went to the showcase and had a tasting - the food will be great!!!
