What exactly do I need for the marriage license?

I know where has been posted, but I thought I'd ask what to bring?

I tried calling, but there was no answer, maybe lunchtime?

I tried looking on the internet, but nothing is really specific.

proof of age...yes
SS#...one site said if you have it memorized thats fine, you don't need to bring the card (I cannot find mine)
parent information...how specific...both FHs parents were not born in this country, but they have SS# and we have their SS#s...is that good?

We just did this recently (well, April), so I hope I convey the information correctly. You need two pieces of ID – we used our driver’s license and our passports. I think they wanted original birth certificates, but we called ahead and asked about a passport instead (my FH has no idea where his birth certificate is), and that was acceptable. BOTH of you must go – it took us about 10 minutes. She asked for names and addresses, and I believe you need your SS number, but not your parents. All they asked for was where they were born. Then they asked what your married name will be and they asked you to sign. Very basic info. Just be sure to have 2, non-expired forms of ID.

we needed something that tied us to our SSN - either the SSN card, paycheck, insurance cards - anything that had our name and SSN on it. We also needed a govt issued photo ID (passport, drivers license, etc).

My husbands parents are foreign born and there was no problem with that - they just wanted to know the countries.

We went the Smithtown Town Hall. In and out in 10 minutes.
You need your license, and ss card. IF not bring pay stub w/ # on it. We were told that would be acceptable. IF you have been married before, bring original Divorce Decree.

In regards to where parents are born, we were just asked if they were born in USA. No exact towns, proof, etc needed.
