i grew up in a section of queens that was very italian back then so GULP LOL i was a guidette with big hair and a tacchini suit. lol i was dating someone with a transam lol so i tried to fit the part. but then i saw my first gothic girl on the b58 bus and it was all over went home and burned all my ghot pink lol an dtraded it in for black velvet lol. This all was happening in the years of 1985 lol im will be 32

This is so funny- I'm cracking up over here. Anyone remember Aussie Sprunch Spray? I had the biggest hair ever. I used to be so upset on days when my hair was really flat.

OMG - Toast of NY and Coffee Bean!! I think I used EVERY hair spray that has been mentioned. I am 30 and we all tried to be as 'Jappy' as we could be - we laughed at 'guidettes' - even though we had 'BIG Jappy hair'. Remember wearing a Champion Sweatshirt - 4 sizes too big so it hung to the knees (on your stretch jeans of course) with coordinating EG's!! Going back to middle school - anyone remember ID# outfits??

I loved the champion sweatshirts. and the cuffs rolled up, too!!! and spandex leggings, biker shorts, tie dyed jumper things. aussie sprunch spray!!! a couple of months ago, these teens came into my old job and i smelled that famous grape scent and said 'aussie sprunch spray?' and she said 'why, yes.' remember sambas, the adidas soccer sneakers? oh, and those blue jean fabric-ish binders that you wrote 'I love dylan mckay' all over??? reebok sneakers, high tops, with double velcro straps, best in red or black???

i had a double heart intial ring. you had to have one or you werent official lol. i also had the ankle bracelet i think i still have somewhere. Do you remember the perfume loves baby soft? they also had it in rain scent? what about name belts ala madonna or wind breakers. i remember my brother had both lol.

This is going back to elem. school - but do you remember Members Only jackets??? I had a light purple one. I heard a comedian on TV recently talking about how he saw some guy wearing one now and was like - You ARE the last member - that cracked me and FH up! Everytime we see someone wearing one now (usually an old guy) we crack up.

i remember exclamation perfume lol and members only jackets lol you still some old guy lol that makes me laugh too. i heard that comedian say that joke to and now of course when i see someone wearing that i laugh even more.

Remeber those double heart mirror keychains that you could get in the flea market and get them engrave w/ your and BF's names...and when you got in a fight you would break it in half and make up and glue it back together?

Skidz!! Thats the name of those plaid pants. My BF and I were on the phone last night trying to remember the name of them We used to buy them at Sids Pants in the Queens center mall
I had the LA Gear sneakers too, with rhinestones natch. This brings back memories

not that this is a fashion trend, but remember snap bracelets, that were made from window blinds and curled around your wrist? so 1990, right? well, my kids at the jh is s/t at had them!! i felt soo old.

I did not have one of those back then but I have one now! I got it at the Westchester County Fair a couple of years ago, strictly for the cheesy factor. I have the profile of a unicorn in pink with my FH's and my name engraved with our anniversary date. He thought I was crazy when I told him I wanted one, and I'd have to agree with him on that

I cannot believe no one posted this yet. Who wore Parachutte Pants??? I had them in Blue, black, grey, and White. I used to also wear Cavaricchis, Sergio Tachinis, a members only jacket...and I used stuff stuff in my hair. I had spiked hair from the 8th grade up until a few years ago. I loved Stiff Stuff. Is that stuff still around? Scott

Stiff Stuff RULED! I used it like it was water, though my hair (permed, no less) was a frizzy, sticky mess as a result of it.. I was watching an old wedding video from my cousin's wedding, (some 14 years ago), and my cousin and I are spending 3/4 of the video at the bride's house spraying our hair and our big teased bangs..
There I am , on VIDEOTAPE, saying 'Andrea, my hair is like straw, but at least it will hold up in this humidity' as I keep spraying away!
We nearly fell off the sofa laughing when we watched it!

I was still in elementary school in the height of the whole “guidette” look, and my mom never let me have any of the stuff I begged for: leggings (I had one black pair, but I wanted them in every color), huge neon colored sweatshirts, LA Gears (never had them!), a perm (my hair was very un-big)…
But most of all I went to school with a girl whose mom got her a custom air-brushed Acid wash denim jacket with “New Kids on the Block” in huge air-brushed script on the back, and her name airbrushed on the front! When I think of it now it’s horrendous, but I was so jealous.
Luckily by the time I was old enough to get whatever clothes I wanted all of this stuff was out of style
