What first?

What first?

Do you book the hall or the church first??

I booked the hall first since I was flexible on the church. I'd book whatever is most important to you.

I've heard of situations where the church gets upset if you don't book with them first, but that was not the case with my church. They knew I booked JT first and they did not care in the least!

I met with the church first & foremost. At my parish you have to go through a intial interview process (its about 10 minutes... simple questions). After that you can book a date. So we penciled in the date we liked, and also had the priest give us a list of other dates available.
Then we did the reception hall hunt. We were actually pretty quick in making a decision. We met with maybe 5 locations before we chose Lombardi's on the Bay. At that point, we picked a date with Lombardi's and then finalized the date with the church.

We really had no problems with dates at our parish. In fact, there was only one other wedding booked in 2011 when we booked this past June.

We booked the hall, and then the church only because the church didn't have their calendar even set up yet when we booked the hall. We didn't tell the priest that, but he mentioned aomething about it and was understanding that sometimes people have to book the hall first since they fill up so fast. Love that guy, lol

We booked hall first but kept it on the hush when we met with the church. I have heard some stories where the church was uber p*ssed that people booked the hall first.

I guess we are bad catholics since we kind of lied to a priest - but it all worked out in the end lol

We booked both simultaneously. Technically the hall was first..BUT we had already met with the hall and the church regarding availability before booking with the hall. The same day we booked the hall we confimed the date with the church.

haha same here...i would have been upset if our church was booked on our date, but I figured that it was so far in advance, that we wouldn't have a problem. If you have a church that you'd be crushed if you couldn't get married there, I would def check their availability first

2010er crashing...
my suggestion, because SOME churches get upset if you book the hall first..
meet with the halls, once you decide on what one you want and what day, contact the church. tell them you did some SHOPPING, to make sure you can afford the day you want, then tell them you did not book yet because you want to make sure the church is available for that day. be sure to mention this to the hall....
my church (which is pretty strict) was happy with the way we did it.

I think it really depends on what you feel is most important. If you figure the hall is more important then I would go with that...Good Luck
