this is gonna sound crazy but my friend once got oil on her jacket and put salt on it to soak it up....I don't remember what she did after that (washing it or whatever) but it reduced the spot somewhat....I know thats nuts but thats what she did!

What kind of material are your pants?

What about 'shout.'

They're just cotton I guess, I can't see the label and I'm at work. They are banana republic pants.

I think those shout wipes work.

DON'T DO ANYTHING TO IT!!!

Bring it to a dry cleaner...if you try to get it out and aren't successful the stain will be there forever...

I tried a little soap and water, but I have to wait for it to dry to see if it worked. Yabbobay I saw your message too late. I'll just bring it to the dry cleaners if the soap didn't work.

For Cotton, I'd use Shout Gel stick. Wash the pants and if the stain is not out don't dry them, the stain sets in with the automatic dryer. If it doesn't come out with the second application of Gel Stick you can try Fantastic as long as it doesn't have bleach in it.
I have used oven cleaner on my blue jeans but I don't think your pants could tolerate that.LOL

I used baby powder on an oil stain I got on my shirt once. It came right out, but I did take it to the cleaners afterwards to be on the safe side : ).

I agree with Yabbobay. Let the dry cleaner handle it. You don't want to make it worse.

I just bought the pants last weekend! What a bummer! The stain did not come out with soap and water. I'll try stain remover when I get home, or else bring straight to the dry cleaners. Thanks ladies!

july...I hate walking around with a stain on me for the day....but if you don't get all of the oil...the stain may set...bring it to the dry cleaners to see what they can do...

Powder is supposed to soak up oil.

Water will not get an oil stain out - water and oil do not mix. This happened to me once and I used Dawn dishwashing detergent ('Dawn - it gets grease out of the way'). However, I agree that maybe you should let the dry cleaning handle it. Good luck!
