I've never been to one so I'm not sure what I need to do. I know that this is the time to thank everyone and give out gifts, is there anything else FH and I should plan to do? Do people play games? If so, can you give me an idea of some games to play? I thought about who knows the couple the best....

Re: What happens during the rehearsal dinner?
usu. this is after the ceremony practice. the oot's maybe invited. at this time a lot of people give the presents to the members of their bridal entourage and the groom/bride makes a speech. i haven't attended any that included games, though. that's usu. reserved for the shower, i think.

Re: What happens during the rehearsal dinner?
we just went to dinner. I guess we had about 40 people. I think DH made a toast then everyone just ate, after the food, DH & I gave out the gifts to our bridal party and parents. Some of us stayed out to party a bit later into the night.

Re: What happens during the rehearsal dinner?
we had the ceremony rehearsal at the hall, then went to a restaurant afterwards.
We had a separate room, (40+ people). When we arrived around 715pm, people just mingled around, ordered drinks from the bar (our room had it's own bar and bartendar). Then the food was ready. We did a buffet, so everyone got up and got their food, then ate. After eating, DH made a toast, thanking everyone for coming, thanking the OOT people for traveling to be with us, thanking our parents and our siblings and our BP for all their help the last year and a half. Then we gave out our BP gifts, then our parent gifts.
After the gift giving, I had them bring out DH's groomscake. Then he cut it, then they served dessert and coffee.
It was a total of 3 hours and it flys by! We didn't do any games or anything like that. People just chatted, took pictures, reminisced, enjoyed their gifts and just got to chill before the big day.
I wish I could do it over again

Re: What happens during the rehearsal dinner?
It's usually after the rehearsal, and it's time to be with your closest family, friends, and OOT to say thank you, and give gifts and speeches, make toasts-that kind of thing....I have never heard of games being played.
