Okay, so we invited nearly 500 people to the wedding. Our RSVP date was this past Monday and we have about 25 invitations outstanding (approx 50 people). Our numbers look like this:
Gauranteed Crest Hollow 300
Yes's - 238
No's - 204
At this point it doesn't even look like we will get 250! My father and FH's parents are taking drastic measures with only 2 1/2 weeks to the wedding and just inviting people. I even told my sister and her husband to invite some of their friends!
So, do we pay for 300 anyway at the price on the contract, or does the hall up the price on us per head?
I'm sooooooooo stressed!
And to top it off FH tells me tonight that the CFO of his department scheduled a meeting on our wedding day - A SUNDAY! So those people he works with that already responded yes, are going to have to cancel!

Re: What happens if you don't hit your minimum?
can you call crest hollow and see if they can do anything for you, i.e. lower your minimum?

that happened to me at east wind I had to guranatee 150 I was short 10 people. All you end up doing is paying for those people they threw in the straberries and champagne I wanted also remember to include you vendors that helped us out a lot! we had 150 and then people started canceling last minute. Good luck!

Do you think they'll do that? I'm going to talk to FH today to see what he thinks about asking the hall to drop our minimum. I'd rather tell them we'll have 275 and end up with 250 and pay for 25 empty seats then keep the 300 minimum, end up with 250 and pay for 50.

My motto in life is that it never hurts to ask for something. Sometimes you will get what you need/want, and others you won't, but at least you tried.

I wouldn't want to pay for 25-50 empty seats...that's alot of money. Is there literally no one else you can invite? neighbors? Can you give single people on your list guests? your parents coworkers? Anyone? If the hall is going to take your money it would just be silly for you to not fill those seats...how about the officiant of your wedding? I don't have any idea what you are paying per person, but for an average wedding ($80 per person after tax and gratuity) that would be $4000 thrown away!!

Trust me, we have invited EVERYONE. We sent out 243 intivitations, which equalled 488 people invited to begin with. We had alot of people we were so sure were attending that just can't make it for whatever reason. Our officiant (and his entire family) will be at the reception becaues they are close personal friends of our family. Right now I'm so stressed out over this! And with my FH's co-workers that have to cancel (because the CFO called a MANDATORY meeting for that day! - A SUNDAY no less!), we're freaking out. We've also had two cancellations other than that this past week.
I actually told my sister and brother in law, to invite their friends, same thing with my brother.

I wish!
We're going to wait and see if we get any scraggler rsvp's this weekend and then make a decision what to do. Our RSVP date was this past monday and like I said, we still have approx 25 outstanding invites, which is about 50 people.

We didn't meet our minimum either. They wont make you pay for people that wont be there. For us we had to pay the same amount but they provided extras like the Viennese hour.
