what happens if you don't make your minimum guarantee?
Has this happened to anyone? Does the hall throw any additions in?

You have to negotiate with the hall. I have heard where some brides get nothing extra and but there are some that do.
If you don't make your minimum, you still have to cover the charges for the amount of guests up to the minimum that your catering hall has for that specific date as per your contract.
My FSIL got married and missed her minimum by 40 and she thought they would refund her or something. It wasn't her minimum...sorry. It was her final count. Because of the snow storm...40 people didn't show and they did try to offer her some sort of a credit for another party. This was the Watermill by the way. They said for like her children or any other party. I thought it was nice. They didn't have to do that for her.
You will be obligated to pay for the minimum guarateed $. My hall allowed me to count my vendors so that I would not have to pay extra for them. As for any other additions, that is something you will have to negotiate with your hall.
I'm just not sure if I'll make the minimum. I WAY over invited, but I got a ton of 'no's'...ARGHHH@!!!!!
our minimum is 160 when we planned on 120 but we found 40 more people. The difference in the pp was insane, 130/pp for 160 or 160/pp for 120.
I think they might charge you more pp if you dont' meet your minimum. I would call the hall to find out.
that's why they have you sign the contract you have to pay for your minimum
With my hall kids and vendors are 1/2 off only after the min is met
