What I Did On My Vacation
Remember those essays you had to write in grade school??
Well, this is mine! ![]()
FH had the last week of 2005 off from work, so I decided to take off and join him for a week of wedding planning!
We started the week by running around to videographers. This was the last major vendor we had to book, and was a last minute addition. After visiting a handful I knew we had found 'the one' when a stranger's wedding video brought tears to FH's eyes! Needless to say, we booked them. Video is done, and if our video comes out as good as the ones we looked at Wild Rose will have earned their money!
ALL THE VENDORS ARE BOOKED!!
On to our next project of the week. I've been invitation shopping online, and FH has only looked at the ones I selected. I realized this probably wasn't fair, since he really does like wedding planning. Together we went to Lion In The Sun and found a gorgeous invite! Unfortunately, it was waaaay more expensive than what we had budgeted. Fortunately, my DOC can get them at a price we can afford! Yea Francesca!!!
These are the invites, although the pic doesn't do it justice, since I blew it off about a dozen times:
From Lion in the Sun we headed up Main Street to Tuxedo Park. We've been there a few times trying to scope out a white dinner jacket. Unfortunately, pure white is only polyester and FH refuses to wear polyester. They brought a diamond white jacket over from their Carle Place location for us, but my dress is as white as paper, and the jacket looked yellow next to the fabric sample I have, so black tux for the FH after all.
But, the service was great. FH got to try on a variety of styles and pick something he liked and was comfortable in, and that I could live with.
They were also able to match the fabric swatch of the bridesmaid dresses for the groomsmens ties! We registered for all the tuxes on the spot. Now all I have to do is get the NY guys in the store to get measured, and get the southern boys to get themselves measured!
But, our week did not end there. We drove out east on Friday to check out hotel accommodations for OOT guests. No decision made, since the Riverhead hotel is so far away from the ceremony location, we (or rather I) will be researching other choices.
Not to let Friday go to waste, FH thought it would be a good idea to register!! Yes, ladies, it was HIS idea to go on Friday and do this. Believe it or not he had a ton of fun. (must have been the gun
). We completed 90% of our registry. We went to Macy's, Williams-Sonoma, Linens & Things, and Fortunoff. Yet another thing crossed off the to-do list!
But, we were not done there. I finally got FH to fix the STD's so they could be ordered. YEA!! Done, ordered, will be shipped @ 1/18!!
And if that wasn't enough, after telling me he thought it was a waste of time, and that no one would look at it FH designed our wedding website!!
It should be up and running by the end of the week. The only thing we have to do is include the info on accommodations for OOT guests. The home page features one of the monograms Christine made, (THANK-YOU SWEETIE!!) together with our STD, and a countdown to the wedding ticker that I found in BJ&Dan's (THANK-YOU!!) profile. He's even asked if I want to include a link to LIW!!!
All of this and we still managed to ring in the New Year with D ick Clark (how sad
) and a bottle of champagne!
Now that I have it all planned, what will I do with myself until October???
