... WE have the graco snugNride- (I think that is what it is called) We are using this carrier that clips into the base for as long as we can until J outgrows it...then we have the britax roundabout ready to go...anyway...
I was told by a certified installer that you should NEVER leave the handle up when the child is clipped into the base in the car. Many of us attach toys to dangle infront of JR to amuse them while we drive...well..that handle is NOT suposed to be UP when you are in the car.
If it is up, it prevents the car seat from protecting your child to its' full capacity. the car seat is supposed to be able to tilt upwards ( head up to toe) to cradle the baby in an impact.
I was VERY surprised to find this out ....'
thought you should know!

I am surprised the manual wouldn't tell you that. I never even thought of it. Thanks for the info.

Re: what i didnt know about the carseat
My boss' wife and infant daughter were in a horrible car accident. The car flipped and the roof caved in....the handle was up and it actually acted like a roll bar and protected her.
That may have been a fluke - but I thought I'd share.
I do not know what car seat it was though.

Re: what i didnt know about the carseat
I knew that, I thought I read it in the manual. I was always giving DH a hard time b/c he would forget. Good info to pass along b/c it's not like you just logically know that.
