What if you don't register for China?

What if you don't register for China?

Just wondering....has anybody not registered for China? I do not think I will ever use it and feel that I would like to replace it with other things that are more needed. My FH and I are not 'classie' entertainers. Just curious.

right now we are not planning on registering for china. when we ask people's opinions (family and friends), the views are mixed - some people say go for it, you'll never have the opportunity to get it ever again. others say forget it, it's not worth it, it's insanely expensive and you never use it anyway... i was initially ok with not registering for it, but lately i've been starting to feel like i'm somehow missing out on something. so i guess i don't know what we'll end up doing!

I'm not going to register for China either. Maybe when I buy a house I will get it as a gift from my mom....just a thought! And hey....why not register for the couch. My friend registered for a bed!!!!!

Thanks.....it makes me feel better that it is not taboo not to. Now the tough part will be breaking it to my mom, but like everything else I am sure she'll get over it. I feel better.

We didn't register for China. I had no need for $1200 (or more) dishes and I am extremely clumsy! Instead, we got Corelle dishes for everyday and a set of Pfaltzgraff (techincally considered everyday dishes but a little nicer than Corelle) for company...

Here's pix! Blue is our Corelle, Flowers are our Pfaltzgraff!

We did the everyday 'china' from Bed Bath and Beyond so my more traditional relatives felt they had something to get us that we still felt was useful. We aren't china people.

We are not registering for 'Formal' china....I have my grandma's china that she barely used...I will register though for everyday dishes!

I didn't and it was the best thing I ever did. I don't need it right now and it's too much money for my family to spend. I would be happier if they gave me something I would be able to use in my apartment.

We didn't register for China. We don't really need it right now and have no place to put it. When we get older and when we really entertain then we'll purchase it ourselves, also when we acquire a nice pattern taste.

I didnt either. We never lived together or really on our own so we needed more of the basic stuff rather then china. Who would of thought Id be excited to get a vaccuumn! Also we were going to be living in an apartment so I wasnt sure what kind of room we would have to store it and I didnt want it to break so we passed on it.

Then you won't be disappointed when you don't get it all (which happens to many, many people - myself included). No biggie. If you and FH aren't 'china' people, most of your guests probably aren't either and they won't even notice its not on the registry.

You'll be eating off the floor then!

LOL

Nothing will happen if you don't register for china. You might have people ask anyway but I doubt anyoen will just go out and buy china anyway.

By all means register for whatever YOU want. THe only thing I felt required to do with my registry is provide a wide range of pricepoints for people to choose from.

Register for that couch, or for your honeymoon, or whatever you want. The people that give you gifts don't have to use your registry (although most of us would prefer they do) and you don't have to register for anything you don't want to.

Make it fun, put the stuff you guys need/ will use/ or just plain old want on your list.

Have fun with the gun!

If you don't register for china, the registry police come and get you! Ok, just kidding. Register for what you want, not for what you think you're supposed to want. I think that china is impractical, even though I registered for it. It was one of those things I knew I would regret not getting in the future. But if you don't want it, you don't want it. I wouldn't even worry about it.
