i dont think there is a 'good age' that applies to everyone. I think if you find the person you want to spend the rest of your life with and you both are mature enough and feel ready to make that committment then you should do it.

i agree

but ill also add that too young isn't the best idea either. i saw too many of my college friends at age 18-19 get married and literally ruin their lives. they dropped out of college. they are struggling, don't work, and get cheated on by their husbands. plus i was once engaged at 19 and so was fh to another girl. we both say that at that age u are still figuring your life out and things can change. i was in a rush to get married to someone i loved at the time but i was too immature. thats just my take on things

Totally personal decision. It all depends on what you want.

I got engaged at 21. I was completely ready to make that decision. So much has happenned since then, and now I look at 21 y/os and think they are so young. But I'm almost 27 now and I still would have made that decision. In fact, I wish I could have gotten married when I originally planned to (age 24).

Def agree with the above...but to semi answer at least in our situation, marriage was obviously when we're ready which is now. With having children as much as I hate to plan this and act like having a plan really matters bc you never know what can happen, we would like to be aroun 28/29 more bc in accounting you usually strive to become a CPA. You have to take this miserable 4 part exam which aside from getting engaged made last summer miserable for me lol. Plus you also have to have certain amount of hours in a particular area, audit, and 1500 in my case bc I have my masters in tax, so I should hopefully have all those by say 27. That is when we'd prob start trying, but you hear so many stories with how hard it can be to get pregnant or how easy so I hate to really plan and just really hope for the best!!

i think it just really depends on the person.....you know if your ready or not and no one can take that from you.....some people are blessed to find love early on and some it takes a couple of times to get out there and find the right person. Don't let other people discourage you

I don't think its about the age. Its about how mature you are.

I would have made the worst wife and mother if i did it in my early 20's
Again I am talking about me.

I was very immature and selfish
plus i put up with some garbage from past boyfriends that i would not tolerate now

I am glad that i did experience what i did
it made me the person i am today

kids is another story

the older i get the less i want

Re: WHAT IS A GOOD AGE

i don't think that age has anything to do with it. i think there are so many other factors that surround getting married. i will be 26 & FH will be 27 when we get married. we will be together for 10 years when we get married. when i was 21 people used to ask me all the time when we were gettting married. that was because we were already together 5 years.

i think what happens in your life plays a major role on when you get married. i know two things that postponed when we got engaged. 1. we are both still in school & neither of us took time off between high school & college, we just didn't know what we wanted. if we would have graduated on time & had our careers in motion we would have been married sooner. 2. FH loosing his dad. its only been 2 years & right after it happened i seriously prepared myself for the worst. FH wasn't in a good place for a while.

as for having kids, although i really want a baby right away, i saw how much my brother & SIL struggled in the begining. in order to have kids i think you need to be financial stable. & you also need to be able to put yourself second.

Re: WHAT IS A GOOD AGE

I think as a general rule I would say people should wait until they are older than 25 to get married and they should wait about a year or 2 before trying to have kids.

But that is VERY general. There are exceptions to everything, and everyone is different.

Fh and I have already been living together over 2 years and we plan on having kids right after the wedding. but I will be 30 by the time I get married and we want a large family.

some girls have seen and done alot by the time they are 18/19 and may be perfectly ready to get married at that age. But of course if you get married at that age people are going to be like 'why so young, what's the rush?!!?!'

Re: WHAT IS A GOOD AGE

it definitely depends on the person. I can tell you that now, at 30, I'm ready for marriage. At 22, when I graduated college, I thought my friends who were getting married at that time were crazy. I was too independent and wanted to do my own thing. I had the opportunity to travel to several places and have a blast.
I would have liked to have been married at 30, but that didn't happen.

Re: WHAT IS A GOOD AGE

I think we are all different ... there is no way I would have been mature enough to marry 10 years ago ...

34 is just right for me

I'm listening to Wendy Williams too!! Love her.

I totally think she was wrong to tell that girl when it was appropriate for her to have kids, but you know, thats Wendy
