Re: WHAT IS A GOOD AGE
I agree that it is entirely personal and not always something you can plan out.
Originally, I didn't even want to get ENGAGED until I was at least 25. I just thought that was the time that I wIould be 'grown up enough' to get married. However, I was 23 when I got engaged. FH and I met each other my junior year of college and dated for 4 years before we got engaged. I just knew he was the one, and suddenly my 'date' didn't matter anymore. I will be 25 when we get married.
Right now, I want to wait until I'm 29 or 30 to have kids. I'd love to enjoy just being with FH for a while: traveling, spending time together, etc. BUT...who knows. I have thrown timelines out the window, and will just take life as it coms. I'm definitely going to wait a bit, but maybe my five year plan isn't realistic. When it feels right, I will know.
If you think it feels right, then go for it! I think people are telling you to experience more people/things before you get married, but if that's not right for you then don't listen!

depends on the person... no offense to anyone younger, but I was not nearly ready at 21, 22, 23. I also think it depends on you and FH. I never felt this way abut anyone else so I wouldn't have been ready til I met FH at 24.
All I know is I wanna have both children before im 31 or 32.

Re: WHAT IS A GOOD AGE
i'll speak for myself..but i know at 18/19/20 years old i was no where near mature enough to be married...yet im sure there are young people that age getting married and do fine. I think it's about your maturity level and only you can base that for yourself. That being said, i think the same thing goes for having children. These are BIG responsibilities and you have to judge for yourself if you're ready for them. Im getting married at 25 and im sure between now and then ill continue to grow..and as i get older as well. Id like to be married for a year or so before kids to. Id hate to get pregnant right away, have a kid, and then get divorced a year later b/c our marriage wasnt working.

I guess a good age would be when ur mentally mature, and financially able to take care of urself as well as a family.

Re: WHAT IS A GOOD AGE
I dont think there is a good or bad age. Personally, I know it would have been a bad idea if I got married in my early 20s. I needed to get alot of stuff out of my system before I was ready to settle down. At 31 I am really sure that the person I am marrying is who I want to be with forever.
i dont think there is a 'good age' that applies to everyone. I think if you find the person you want to spend the rest of your life with and you both are mature enough and feel ready to make that committment then you should do it.
i agree
but ill also add that too young isn't the best idea either. i saw too many of my college friends at age 18-19 get married and literally ruin their lives. they dropped out of college. they are struggling, don't work, and get cheated on by their husbands. plus i was once engaged at 19 and so was fh to another girl. we both say that at that age u are still figuring your life out and things can change. i was in a rush to get married to someone i loved at the time but i was too immature. thats just my take on things
I was in the same situation. And I'm glad I didn't get married that young to the wrong guy. I think it totally depends on the person though. I know people who have been married since 19 and are doing just fine. For me personally, I will be getting married when I am about to turn 29 and hope to have my first child about a year or 2 after that. I'm defintiely not ready for kids yet...

I also dont think there is a good age.... I think this maturaty happens at different ages for different people.. and never for some people...
Same thing for kids...
I looked it up.. the average age that someone gets married is : girls 25 and guys 27..
I didn't find the average age for kids

I think it depends on the person...
When I was 18/19 I was no where near ready to be married...I am 23 now, still young, but I am happy enough with how my life has gone and I am ready to settle down with Shawn. I feel that whatever I want to do with the rest of my life I can do it with him by my side. He understands I want to travel before I have children and he is fine with that!! I will be 2 months from turnign 25 when I get married.
I think kids though, i personally dont want kids before i am 28...I want to travel and see the world while I can!! But Shawn, who is almost 28 (five years old than me), wants kids before he is 30...So we have to talk about it after we are married and figure out an agreement we can come to.

Re: WHAT IS A GOOD AGE
There's no 'good age' just a 'good time' to get married, and that is specific to the person.
Some of the women on here are getting married at 22-23, that wouldn't have been right for me! I was enjoying my me time, and going out with my friends and I didn't want to settle down at all.
Before Justin I was in a 4.5 year long relationship with another person, and I wanted to get married in the worst way, but the person wasn't right for me. If I married him we would have been divorced in two quick seconds. I don't think we would have made it to the reception
To me, it was about everything coming together, the right person and the right time. I'll be 35 when I get married, and while that's not ideal (I want kids) it's OK, and we'll find a way to work through any obstacle.

Re: WHAT IS A GOOD AGE
I think the most important thing is to know that you could be with this person 4 EVER You have too really KNOW the person. I know a young lady who is only 22yrs old been with her man for 5 months (Yeah 5 MONTHS) & she talking about she want to get married to her man. That is insane in MY opinion For me marriage is forever I don't believe in divorce, I think you should be able to work out 99% of your problems. I think that ladies (and guys for that matter) should enjoy their life before getting married, not that you can't have fun when you married but, you know do things that when you married and have kids you might not be able to do.
The planning is fun The dress is beautiful The attention is great but the vows you take are 'forever' & at 19, 20 or 21 I don't know if you're ready but if you think you are.........that's GREAT
Would not have been great for me

Re: WHAT IS A GOOD AGE
i think the age I'm getting married is a good age, just because i found what i wanted ( I <3 my FH!! woo lol) .. for my sister it was 31 for others its younger.
kids for me is strictly financial.. i wish it was otherwise..but my FH and I know now that we're gonna have to wait awhile until we can feel safe to have kids. (paying off our student loans etc)

Re: WHAT IS A GOOD AGE
i think if you are mature enough and ready to be married mentally , financially, etc... then age does not matter
