What is a good engagement gift?

What is a good engagement gift?

My sister recently got engaged, as well as my brother. What do I buy them for engagement gifts?

My sister is having a Garden Wedding, and no engagement party. She already got toasting glasses and cake knife and server set.

My brother is getting married in hawaii and no engagement party.

I don't know what to buy them.

HELP!

I just had my engagement party on Saturday. We have been engaged for over a year and I did not want to have an engagement party but after the two mothers started talking it was all out of my hands, but anyway

I got a lot of nice vases and my bedding I also got my whole china pattern and my cake topper and candlesticks.

You could always get them a gift card to Fortunoff's or wherever they plan on registering.

I think a nice idea is to get them some of there china or a gift certificate to Fortunoff's or Macy's, or wherever they registered.

Maybe you can get your brother a gift certificate to go horseback riding during the sunset for him and his FI, there are places online you can look them up and book it for them and for your sister I think money and a picture frame or a pretty vase with spring flowers in it??

What about a Trunk or Keepsake Chest (I forgot what they are called)? Thats what my sister got me for my engagement....Everyone including myself loved it.

I think those afghans they have at Things Remembered make great gifts. You can have them put their names and engagement date on it. They really make beautiful gifts.

Something that they would like or want, but would never buy for themselves . . .

$100 cash. I know, not very sentimental, but I think we all know how handy cash is when planning a wedding, no matter how big or small the event will be.

My sis's friend's bro bought them their flowers for their wedding as an e-party. He sadly passed away before the wedding, which made the flowers even more touching. Maybe you could buy your sis jewelery to wear or your bro cuff links. Or just something off their registry. I'd ask them what they wanted. I wanted my sis to get me something special

How about a spa gift cert. for both of them? with all this planning, they'll need it! =)

I would get a gift certificate to a store near them like bloomingdales or fortunoffs - with a note to get something that they really wanted and did not get. This way they can evaluate what they need and want instead of giving them something that might not be what they really need.
