What is a Groom's Cake?

I've heard people mention it on here but I have no idea what it is, when it's for, etc.

Re: What is a Groom's Cake?

It's a separate cake that is either at the wedding or these days it's more popular to have it at the rehearsal dinner...it's usually in the shape of something that FH likes.

Re: What is a Groom's Cake?

From what I know, its a big thing done mostly in the south. These days it more of a common thing now. Its a cake presented to the groom at the rehearsal dinner as a gift from his bride. Usually the cake is theme related to something he likes. Could be sports, cars....wait now Im getting worried because my FI likes big ...um...knockers. I should get him one of those cakes that are shaped like a lady!!! Imagine that!!! My mom would have a cow!!! Anyway, you get the jist of it!!

Re: What is a Groom's Cake?

A groom's cake is one that is usually designed after one of the groom's interest, like a favorite sport. It traditionally was given out as a favor at the wedding and is usually a darker cake than the wedding cake. I think a lot of people now serve them as dessert at the RD, that's what I'm planning on doing as a surprise for my FH.

Re: What is a Groom's Cake?

They can be, considering what you want done. If your just looking for a cake with some decorations, it shouldnt be much. But if your looking to replicate his favorite car or something, then they can become pretty pricey....
