What is a Money Bag?Dollar Dance

I'm full of questions this week, I must be freaking out!

What is a money bag and what do you do with it?

AND has anyone heard of a Dollar Dance and how do you feel about them?
(A Dollar Dance is a dance where people essentially pay to dance with the bride or groom. I have seen it alot other places, but not down here really.)

I'm familiar with the dollar dance. It's a cultural thing really and not everybody does it.

It's pretty much what you said. People pay to dance. Some family members suggested it, but in my opinion I think it's a bit tacky and my parents would have a heart attack if I did it--they think that others who are not familiar with the custom will think that we're just asking for money...

The money bag is a bag that holds money pretty much. Instead of a card box, you can put the cards you get in here and even carry it on your wrist.

Does the bag get annoying?

The dance happens to be a Finnish tradition and with everythign being geared towards my FH being Italian, I want something of my own. But not alot of my family is coming, so I wonder if it would be taken as rude. Maybe if the DJ explained it?

I'll keep looking for another tradition to use.

Keep the dollar dance if it is part of your Finnish heritage.
If others don't approve of it, tough nuggies.
It is part of your heritage.

Although I am not greek, at greek weddings the bride and groom are showered by money while they dance. The money is then given to the band.
At my friend's wedding, the son of the groom (who is Jewish) was awed by the money flying thru the air and started picking up the bills and stuffing them into his tuxedo. How cute !

It’s Finnish?! Really? I’ve never heard of it before; probably because I’ve never been to a Finnish wedding and am not Finnish myself. FH’s grandfather is from Finland, though.
