We want to go to Kauai, Hawaii, probably for more than a week. We see that we can easily spend 10K but that would be really silly with buying a house and having a big wedding, etc. So, what budget is workable?

depending on how many days/nights, you should be able to do air and hotel for $4,000 or so. but then, dont forget to factor in spending money, meals, etc. on top of that!

Depends on what type of room you are looking for, how much spending money you want to bring, how long you want to stay for, whether or not you are going during a peek season.
we were originally going to Aruba but then realized it may be less expensive and safer staying in the states.

We went to Aruba for a week and spent about $3000, including airfare, hotel, meals and spending money. We did not do a ton of activities, however, so you might want to budget a little more.

Airfare Do you have frequent flyer miles? If so that can be one way to save. Coach is usually less than first or business class. Also, the earlier you book, the better deals you can generally get.
Hotel I would go to tripadvisor.com and look at all of the hotels and what people had to say about them. If you want luxury, does it have to be a 5 star hotel? Can you make do with a garden or mountain view room instead of an ocean view room? Some hotel chains will give you a discount if you stay there for more than a few nights or upgrade your stay. Others will let you combine islands if you stay at their chain and book through them.
Meals Is breakfast included in the room? Will you have a mini fridge and are you willing to stock it up with food?
Inter-island flights/transportation Does this come with the room or is it extra?
Entertainment What type of couple are you? Are you a let's go to the beach and lay there or do you want museums, tours, adventure travel? All of the different options cost money. Call the hotels individually, sometimes the local hotels have better access to local stuff and can guide you better than a travel agent can.
Cruises This might be an option for you too so check out the different cruises avaialbe. You would still need to fly to Hawaii or California but then meals, rooms, and some transportation will be covered.
I have seen girls on LIW say that they are going to Hawaii for a week and spending about 4,000. I also know people who went to Hawaii and Fiji for 3 weeks and spent 30,000. It totally depends on what you can afford and how much time you have. Good luck and have fun!

We are going to Italy for 12 days in October. The cost includes airfare, hotel and breakfast and dinner for $5600. Friends of mine do travel tours so we will go with them and get a guided tour also! I can't wait
