What is a Trunk Show??

Help! I may sound like a moron but I have no idea - is it like a sample sale or different?

a trunk show is when a designer brings samples of her dresses to a store and sells them for a discount ( like 10-15% off).

Yes... it's basically a sale on a particular designer's gowns. The good thing about it is that they'll typically showcase alot of gowns that a salon may not normally carry the samples of. If it wasn't for a Trunk Sale, I probably would have never tried on the sample of my dress because NO ONE had it....

And they usually take a whopping 10% off... but if you need a rush order, they might wave the fee if you buy at the trunk show (goes to show you what a load of crap a 'rush charge' is!)

Ahh, so it's better than a sample sale (not price-wise but selection-wise). Definitely good to know... Thanks you guys!!!!

Just know that if you are going to a store for a trunk show, they can only show you that designers dresses, I went to a boutique's Vera Wang Trunk show, out of my way in Brooklyn and she could only show me that designers dresses, I couldn't even browse throughout the store and ask about other dresses because the rep is there and keeps watch to make sure we are focusing on the Vera Wang, and they only had a few tea lenght dresses which I decided was the length for the Bridal party. so basically I drove for a 10 minute look.
