What is 'and Guest?'

What is 'and Guest?'

We have a problem with my DH's office manager. She doesn't have a S/O so we invited her as Ms. and Guest. The problem is we think her 'and guest' might be her 4 year old daughter rather than her boyfriend of the moment! Is is rude to ask who she is bringing? Do we tell her it would be improper for her to bring her 4 year old. Or is and guest Her choice? We are having a FG, RB, and Jr. BM all chosen with their good behavior in mind, and we hired a sitter for them in case their parents wanted them to go to bed before the reception was over.

IMO, 'and guest' means a date, not a son, daughter, grandkid, etc.

see how she responds... or you can have your DH casually mention that you're having no kids at the wedding.

i would ask her who it was (maybe use the excuse that you want to put their name on the place card?). IMO 'and guest' does not mean bring a child with you, i feel like Weddings are for adults to celebrate, and of course, children in the immediate family/ bridal party. I feel like the wedding should be an elegant affair, not a playground party.

I say guest means a S/O or ADULT friend.

and = date, but some may play ignorant and bring children. Id casually mention about not having children at your wedding. BTW- I dont blame you one bit, my wedding is 19 and up and I have 5 kids in the BP and thats enough

I put their names on the inner envelope, but that may not help either

Good Luck!!

I would think and guest would mean date to most people. If you wanted to invite her son, you would have put the son's name.

However, she might not want to think that. If she brings her son, I would just roll with it. It hardly seems worth the effort involved in arguing with her about it.

Ifyou wanted her kid to come, you would say the kids name on the invite

I agree that your FH should ask her who her guest will be. Maybe he can bring it up in a convo or something.

maybe you can make up a story about someone who replied with a child and say that you had to tell them you weren't expecting to have anymore children then the ones you already have in your bridal party.
