What is everyone doing with their pets while on your HM?

I went to a place called Paws Inn Chelsea in the city on Saturday b/c it came recommended. It was nice enough but I want to find a really nice place because he will be in there for about 12 days. I only want to do cageless boarding. There aren't any cageless boarding places on LI (at least that I know of). Anyone have any recommendations? TIA

My parents watched my dog while we were gone, but you can look into having someone watch your dog in their home, as opposed to a kennel. I live in Westchester, so I don't know anyone in LI, but hopefully someone else will be able to point you in the right direction.

I always have a good friend of mine cat sit for me. She usually spends the night. I'm pathetic, but luckily she is a cat lover.

Can you offer one of your friends the use of your apartment if they take care of the dog? They get a week out of their parents house and you can get them a little something, like a GC for a massage.

my landlords daughter will come downstairs and play with my cat every day and a friend of mine also comes over to make sure she's fed and her litterbox is clean.. cause i wouldn't ask the kid to do that.

but for our honeymoon its going to be around 2weeks and i feel bad leaving her alone, so i'm trying to see if my sister can catsit.. even tho my cat doesn't get along with hers.

is there any family or friends that wouldn't mind either coming to your house to take care of the dog or taking him to their place?

I work in an animal hospital in Ronkonkoma and I always board my kitties there. I get a super discount too, so that doesn't hurt.

We have a musician friend who also pet sits on the side. She does it practically full time as a side business. She is located in Huntington and mostly works out of the Huntington/Northport area. Not sure how far she would be willing to travel. She is very good.

Thanks everyone but I am not really comfortable leaving him home alone with a pet sitter. I figure if he is with other dogs at a facility he will be distracted and not miss us that much.

We left my little Cleo at Cozy NOses bed and breakfast in Bohemia. She did really well there.
