after the ceremony? My church will not let us do rose petals because someone slipped in the past and now they say that they are too dangerous I always dreamed of the pictures with the rose petals being thrown. Oh well I'm not going to waste my time n something I can't have. Now I need some good ideas for other things to do. TIA!

Sorry hun.. we're doing rose petals.. Our church doesn't allow anything else thrown. I've heard of people doing bubbles (although I was told to be careful because they could stain your dress) butterfly release, dove release, balloon release etc.

My church doesnt want us to throw anything, but guess what, I'm throwing stuff anyway. What are they gonna do after the wedding? unmarry me? LOL
Anyway we were thinking of getting wedding rice in the shape of hearts, supposedly it's safe for the birds.
ETA: here is a link Wedding Rice -- it is water soluble and doesn't roll so it should be safe.

i like the idea of tradition with the rice.. they have that new stuff that dissolvesand is safe .. i am not doing anything bc we r getting married at RH

We threw petals even though the church originally had said no, but I spoke with the pastor and she said fine. However, if you can't throw anything what about making ribbon wands. I've seen those and they look very pretty and colorful.

Same here...that or ribbons wands, but given the season I'm leaning towards the bells. My church doesn't have a grand staircase or entrance, so I'm not going to go nuts with it.

we are having the ceremony outside. We are handing out sparklers to the guests before the cermony so as we walk down the aisle the will light the sparklers for us
you can do bubbles or release balloons

FH cousin did this for his wedding ... although I have to say alot of poeple didnt know what to do with them.. so if you do this.. I would right a little note on a tag that somes something like 'wave your wand in honor of .. ' or something like that

Im doing bubbles too. My ceremony and reception is in the same location so we are having a Bubble recessional. I am going to place bubbles on the aisle seasts along with the programs!
