we are not allowed to throw rice or rose petals. we dont want to blow bubbles, but were thinking of releasing butterflys. what do you think?

i have heard a lot of butterflies are dead when you open them - just something to think about - i am either doing the ballon release or the streamers (not so sure after Trista did them)
We are going to throw that puffed heart shaped rice that is safe for birds and melts when it rains. Maybe that would be ok with your church?
Is regular rice bad for birds. Our priests..told us we can throw anything....
Yes regular rice is bad for 2 reasons in particular. First, its hard and if there is alot on the ground people can slip and fall. (NOT GOOD) and the second thing is that when birds eat it, and then they drink water, it expands in their tummies and they explode (or get really sick).

Well...some people use ribbon wands. And there is also confetti which my church is strongly against beause it gets all over the place and never FULLY disappears!

That's true... confetti is nice, but hard to catch every bit of it.
I also just remembered... I've heard of people using bells ~ which is a cool idea, because they can then take it to the reception as well, and use that instead of the utensil-2-glass clinks.

im doing rose petals!!! my church isnt crazy about it but said they would look the other way.
Im going down the dangerous route by using sparklers. I saw a picture of this being done and it looked so pretty. Unfortunately my church wont allow rice or rose petals. I think I'll 'forget' to mention to them that Im using sparklers!!

You can also try these STREAMER THROWS -- I was going to do these but my church said NO to these TOO!! So check with yours first...
