I thought maybe we could do a little update....what is everyone up to (planning wise) and what are you planning to do???
So we have our RH, photo, video, and DOC all booked...
We just had the apt with the pastor, i am still deciding if we should go else where....
We have the band and contract, just have to sign and pay...
I sent out the deposit to the hair/makeup, just awaiting the contract back...
I will book the ceremony music as soon as we have the church settled...
We have the limo apt on the 9th....
We have the cake apt on the 17th...
I will be making the florist apt in June...
Our e-party plans are coming along as well...we have the date and place all set...we will be looking into invites and cp's in june....debating photog....
I think that is it for now....

..just got a little annoyed when I posted something on BHB thread & got a response that I guess she politely told me I was 'rushing into plans' I love people say that!..I need to get prices for now or everything will just keep going up! what the heck?? haha I think we are all Very smart :)
& p.s. congrats to Charondita for booking with your DOC!! & everything else for that matter! haha

im sorry...i saw that too...i feel that sometimes people do not understand why we (meaning weddings in 2011) are waiting so long or are taking so long or are waiting so long to get married but booking everything so fast...
everyone has an opinion.....

I must say that I'm surprised at how much so many of you have accomplished so far! I've been engaged for about 2 months and all I've booked are the church and the hall. I'm thisclose to booking the photographer/videographer so once that's done, I think I'll move on to the DJ.
I hate when people say, 'why are you waiting so long? such a long engagement!' because I WANTED a long engagement! It's giving me the time to really research and meet with lots of different vendors so i don't feel so rushed and limited towards the end.
Any other January 2011 brides?

I agree.. & am also getting 'the why so long engagement' but this wedding is not going to pay for itself...& we need time so save. We got engaged xmas day & let me tell you time is flying already. I wanted to move it up a year because I was feeling all of this pressure that I was not 'allowed' to book things early, or order my dress...& I was like who the heck are these people!..I am doing what I want when I want to! & ever since I've been thinking this way I am so much happier..& yes Christina you're right! everyone will have their opinions no matter what we do..I am very happy that I will have more than enough money when my wedding day comes & will enjoy every minute of it!

Thank you. I was very excited to have that out of the way. I'm so sorry that some people are so rude. Even though our weddings are so far away we still want to be able to save money and by us booking so early we are getting 09 pricing. Many of my vendors are telling me their prices are going up a few hundred next year.

My FH and I are paying for this wedding ourselves and there are certain things i want. I need time to pay for everything and not stress ourselves financially.

I don't know if these people realize the financial stress that comes with a wedding. I want to have the RH and some of the really big stuff paid for 6 months before the wedding. I don't want to cry the day before the wedding because I still have another 5k to pay or anything like that. I think we are being responsble by planning and booking early.

I think we would all totally agree with you. I want everything paid off before the wedding. I want the only money I have to pay out on my wedding day is the tips for every (if they deserve one). I am a little nervous about paying things off to early and then something going wrong with the company or their service. I wanted to have almost everything paid off by the end of this year so that next year we can concentrate on my dress and buying a home. What do you girls think? Is that to early?

It's never to early if you absolutely know what you want. My problem is that there are certain things that I change my mind about at least once a week. I want to also have everything paid in full by the time the big day is here but like you said, I worry about all the horrible things that could go wrong..the place going out of business..etc. I figured the best way to avoid that type of tragedy is putting the least amount down and then just saving the money you would've otherwise paid them and make the payments as the date gets closer. That way the money is still in your hands and its gaining interest in the bank.

you read my mind exactly! I don't want anyone getting paid in full until its close like the day before! haha you know what I mean..Until they require or until the service is rendered.
