when i first started looking i ws thinking i would get a dress for under $1000. now that ive been looking i havent seen a dress that i like for under $3000. what are you girls paying ?

My dress was pretty cheap! I didn't even look at prices when I tried on dresses. I guess I got lucky because the one I chose was only $850 after the added price for hollow-to-hem and tax. That does not include alterations though.

I got my dress from the Commack Wedding Center. It is by Mon Cheri. I only checked out 1 other place and it was a lot more. I also got a quote from one of those online stores and it was the same price.
ETS: The CWC will match a better price.

There is no average price - you can pay $99 or $9999+.
You have to decide what your dress budget is and look at dresses in that range.
I tried on gowns in the $500-600 range that were beautiful but when I tried on a $2500 dress, I saw & felt the difference and couldn't go back to the less expensive dress (JMHO)

I agree that there is no average price. My gown costs $4500 before alterations and some people think I am nuts, but it was the gown that I fell in love with. However, I also you think that you can find a beautiful gown for less than that and be perfectly content. I will say that there is a definite difference in the look of the more expensive gowns. JMO.

Yeah, me too. I had on a lovely $685 gown but I kept looking and ended up with a $3200+ gown. I loved it though

My dress retails for over 2,000, but since I got it at a sample sale, it was 1/2 price! So, if you fall in love with dresses that are too expensive, there are always sample sales and trunk shows!

My dress was $3,900. before alterations. I didn't put a budget on my dress, whatever I fell in love with is what I was going to get. There is a serious difference in quality throughout the different price ranges and to me my wedding dress is the single most important piece of clothing I will ever wear. I wanted quality!

Their is really no average price. You could pick your dress with your heart or your wallet.
