we currently have a kenmore one that has broken 3 times (we kept bringing it in and exchanging it for a new one of the same thing). I've heard Dyson, but don't know which one!
I currently have the yellow one on our registry but should i replace it with a different one? are they really that different?

I have the purple one, I bought it like 2 years ago so not sure if it has been upgraded or not?
But the good thing is at BBB I was able to get 20% off so I saved $100. I have 3 kids who all play baseball and an Akita so we get our carpets very dirty. It was well worth the investment!
I heard BBB coupons exclude Dyson, but they also exclude Lenox and let my grandma use it on all of the china she bought us. I hope if we put it on our registry people use the coupon!
We had the $399 yellow basic on on our registry but I'm thinking about switching it to the purple animal ball one -- but 599 is pretty insane for a vacuum. I don't know if it's worth the $200 bump up! There's also a $549 animal version?

Ok, I have 2 20% coupons: neither of them say anything about Dyson. Oddly enough, only ONE of them exclude Tommy Bahama and DKNY, but I digress.
I checked the BBB website: my animal isn't on there, so maybe it has been upgraded. I had heard, so take with a grain of salt, that the yellow one wasn't as good.
Lastly, my XMIL, bought me a bazillion dollar Kenmore we bought our house 15 years ago. I loved it, ran it for 10 years. But then it got to the point where it wasn't worth repairing. But I didn't/couldn't spend a lot of $. So I ended up going through like 3 'cheaper' vacuums rather quickly (kids and dog). I would've saved the $300 I wasted on crap vacuums. KWIM?

Yeah... I got a $180 Kenmore when I moved into my current apt and it has broken 3 times in the past year. We ended up being able to swap it out for another of the same one.... I wanted to see if we could get store credit and then apply it to a Dyson but I think they were only willing to do an even exchange. Either way, FH wanted to put the Dyson on our registry and not have to pay the difference ourselves (especially since 20% off is $120 anyway)

I don't belive it's sold at a store you can register at but I am obsessed with my oreck xl. I have a golden retriever with super long hair and she sheds like crazy. It's the only thing that gets all of it up. It's pricey but it works like a dream and is only 8lbs.

Re: what is the best vaccuum to register for?
I tentatively put the Dyson Animal (the purple $599 one) on our BBB registry.... I'm assuming anyone who might buy that would use the 20% off coupon which brings it down to $480 but wow that is a lot for a vaccuum!!!
We have 2 cats and I probably shed more than both of them (our carpets are gross, always have little hair-dust bunnies on it) so if it's as good as people say, I guess it will be well worth it.
I felt a little guilty so I took off 2 of the more expensive items off our registry (an air mattress and a vaccuum sealer) which I didn't think we'd use nearly as much as the vaccuum.
We also added the Dyson hand-held one, but it has mixed reviews on Amazon. Apparently it only holds a charge for like 7 min, but it's supposed to be for small quick jobs. Anyone register for that? Our current dusterbuster is horrible and has barely any suction!

Although it is on the pricey side, I was able to convince FH to keep the Dyson on the registry. If someone doesn't buy it for us, we are definitely going to get it ourselves and use our completion discount and gift cards we have already received or earned with the registry.

I think we might have a shot at receiving it as a wedding gift. We'll see. FH's family is from OOT and giving $$$ is seen as impersonal, so maybe someone will want to give us a lovely purple vaccuum? (or chip in for it?)

I own 1 very hairy dog and 3 cats. We went through countless vaccuums (that weren't cheap either mind you!) Get a Dyson, we have had ours 2 years and it has just as good power as the first day. We have the purple (animal ) DC15

that's the one i just put on our registry. do you know what the difference is between the DC17 and the DC15? they are both 'animal' ones but they are $50 apart in price
