What is the difference between Foccus and Pre Cana?

I just called my church to see if they had the Pre Cana schedule for the year and they didnt so I was told to call the Diocese of Rockville Center. They faxed me the schedule. Let me not even go into the fact that it costs $250 and its loooooong but at the bottom of the registration form there is a place to put your FOCCUS date and place. What is that? I already did my initial meeting with the preist, is that it? TIA

I thought the foccus is a weekend long retreat in place of pre cana classes

no..Focus is the test you have to take. It is a test about your relationship. Precana is the classes you take.

'focus' or the 'pre-marital investigation' is mandatory in some dioceies.

We did the foccus 'test' at our first 'pre-cana' meeting, our next meeting is Saturday. We didn't have an option.

Ok when we first met the preist and answered some questions like where we live, that we werent related and things like that and we signed a paper, was that Foccus?

NOOOOO..our Foccus was 150 or 170 statements, I would call them, if you already
live together,

You answer them (on a scantron mind you) Agree, disagree, or Uncertain

Some of the questions are the same just worded differently

It's more like what is your relationship like, how do you get along with each others families, what is your relationship to the church, how do you resolve issues, etc, etc, etc ....

I did the focus test and it didn't take too long. On Thursday we am going to meet with a couple from the Church and they go over the answers with us. I hope it's not too weird the four of us. Then in a few months I guess we start Pre Cana.

We are doing the FOCUS test in November. And the pre-cana in February. This is the way our church has it set up for us. We didn't really have a choice as far as dates. At the pre-cana is when we have the weekend meetings and the mass at the end of the weekend.

we did the Focus test (me and FH had to answer about 150 questions and they put us in separate rooms) this was at our first meeting with the priest. then after a few weeks a couple called us to meet with them at their house and we went over any answers that we answered differently and other things that they 'have' to talk to us about. It was a little weird. then we have to go to Pre Cana in a few months.

Does anyone know if its more relationship based questions about the both of you together or is it more personal questions just about yourself?

The questions were very repetitive and ALL relationship type statements where you have to say 'Agree' 'Disagree' or 'Unsure'.

Ex.

'I feel unconfortable around my FH/FW's friends'.
'My FH's parents do not approve of me'.
'I am scared when my FH has a few drinks'.

It wasn't bad at all.

I am required to do pre cana, focus and pre-marital investigation.

I am getting married in Cedarhurst, but I live in Westchester. In order for my current parish to give me 'permission' to marry outside of my parish I must complete all three!!!
