What is the difference between Foccus and Pre Cana?
Original post by diamondgrlie
I just called my church to see if they had the Pre Cana schedule for the year and they didnt so I was told to call the Diocese of Rockville Center. They faxed me the schedule. Let me not even go into the fact that it costs $250 and its loooooong but at the bottom of the registration form there is a place to put your FOCCUS date and place. What is that? I already did my initial meeting with the preist, is that it? TIA

Ok I just called the rectory back and they said Foccus was a voluntary thing and not necessary to get married. Thanks all!

we actually just finished our foccus test...like a few people already said, it is over 100 statements, that you either agree/disagree/not discussed (it think)...they group the questions into categories and depending on whether the 2 of you agree with each other, you are rated on each topic...when we took it, the couple who administered the test said that couples should probably discuss topics where the % of agreement is less than 60%, but that couples should also discuss all questions that there was a disagreement...this test is supposed to pinpoint areas that may come up and it gives you a heads up now on what these issues might be...
fh and i did well...the few items we have disagreeing on are issues that we already know exists and we have been discussing them, even before this whole foccus test came about...there were actually other couples in the test that got a lot of 100% in their tests...
from what i hear, it is not necessary like the pre-cana, but if you are paying $250 anyway, you might as well see how well the two of you communicate with each other
