guests to your RH dinner? If we invite our OOT guests we are going to have aobut 50 people. My FMIL is not happy about this. All of the OOT guests would be on my side.

Re: What is the etiquette for inviting OOT
i'll have a similar predicament and have not thought it through completely, but off the top of my head I will not be inviting OOT guests to a rehearsal dinner if we elect to have one.

Re: What is the etiquette for inviting OOT
My brother's wedding is OOT so ALL of his guests will be OOT. My parents are footing the bill for the RD but to have everyone would be insane, so my mom is hosting an open house brunch the morning after the wedding for OOT guests.

Re: What is the etiquette for inviting OOT
This is a tough situation that I think a lot of brides have to go through. We had over 60 people at the rehearsal dinner, which we had at the hotel because there was so many people. Is there any way that you could help with the cost of the dinner, since there are so many on your side?

Re: What is the etiquette for inviting OOT
when is your rehearsal dinner? Will there be that many OOT guests? My guests are coming in the daybefore and the RD is 2 or 3 nights before.
But since you should do something what a bbq or brunch instead of inviting them to dinner?
Or if your FMIL is freaking - can your family cover the costs of the OOTs?
Or what about having your RD at a place where the OOT can join you later - maybe a restaurant with a bar area?

Re: What is the etiquette for inviting OOT
My Mom is paying for our reception so I cant really ask her for extra $ and we have not saved enough $ to pay for the diff. FMIL know from the begining that it would be a big RH but now she is digging her heels in but yet she wants to add 16 people to the guest list.
aghghgh. We should have eloped. I guess we will figure something out.
Thanks

Re: What is the etiquette for inviting OOT
We're inviting them. We only have about 5 OOT guests coming in and they happen to be family however if they weren't I would definitely invite them. I don't think it is mandatory at all though.

Re: What is the etiquette for inviting OOT
Since our wedding is in the hamptons, there will be a of of OOT guests. There are about 45 people coming to my RD, so we may invite the OOT guests for drinks at the bar afterwards. I will probably be gone by then though :)
Although my wedding is on a Saturday, so guests may not arrive on Friday night. They may just end up driving out Sunday afternoon.

Re: What is the etiquette for inviting OOT
My FH is from OOT and therefore his whole family is from another state. (half the wedding) We are talking 14 aunts/uncles alone! We are just having the bridal party, parents, grandparents and bridal party's dates. IF you look in some etticute (spelling) books inviting OOT guests is a new and unnecessary tradition. My fahter suggested we have like a cocktail hour afterwards but my FMIL saw no need for that. go for bridal party and then some.

Re: What is the etiquette for inviting OOT
The only people who we are inviting to the rehersal dinner are the people in the wedding party! And of course the parents. There are a few OOTers that are in our wedding party. But there is no way I am inviting my family from florida and his family from staten island to the rehersal dinner. Remember it is a rehersal, not a wedding! Save that for the next day! We aren't even inviting our wedding party with their significant others! We have too many! And FMIL set a price on what she will spend on the Rehersal dinner.A
