what is the matter with people???

We sent out the invitations and now we are getting responses for 5 people from people who were invited with a guest (so it should be 2)

***???? What is the matter with people?? I swear some people have no clue! I am so ROYALLY pissed!

Isn't it insane how some people do this? When I do my invitations, for those people that I think that might do something like that, I'm writing the number of guests in the response cards so that there is no doubt for them. I only have a couple of those that will be needing that.

I'd be offended but for them just assumming you can bring 5 people to the wedding when it has already been addressed to 'Mr. or Ms. and Guest'...
I think I will do this to save myself aggravations and for those couple of people who might do that....it's like 'don't even think about it'. If they get offended, too bad. Please read what the envelope says.
Even though at least a phone call before writing the exceeded amount of guests is better than returning the response cards with more than the number of people you were invited...now to me that's rude....

I plan to do the same thing for a few people. The priest at my parents' church (he's not marrying us) is notorious for bringing all 3 of his daughters to wedding even when he and his wife were the only ones invited.

Yes, it says GUEST, not guestSSSSSSSSSS!

how rude! I am fearign this too, but can't imagine whoul will be the culprit.

This has happened to 2 of my friends....Well the buck stops here cuz I am not the one.

unfortunately, this is the second person on FI's side to do this......I'm really pissed that they didn't even call to ask!

I'm starting to wonder whether FMIL spoke to them and said....'sure, just write it on the response card' because her response to us was, 'Well it will work out because A, B, and C aren't coming, but if it's too much I'll pay for them....'

What?!!!!!!!!!!!!!! what the heck do people think? that you are having a backyard bbq? I'm sorry but I am done worrying about what is considered tacky or offensive, so I will be writing the number of people on each response card. If you get offended then don't come!!!!!! I have a budget and there is no way I can afford to be paying for so many extra people. That is also like all the parents who assume that all their kids will be invited!!!! I have had people tell me that they will pay for their kids plate, but it is not really that, it's just that I don't want that many kids at my wedding. It is not a freakin' Pinata people!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ok i actually have this problem and i called the gal ( who has been my friend since high school - i am the godmother for her 3 kids)on it and now not only isnt she comming but she isnt talking to me either -
people get really wierd about this stuff - she was invited with her kids mind you that makes it five and she calls me to tell me make sure i send extra direction cards for the other people she invited - besides her 5 she wanted to bring 6 more - !!!!
that would have been 11 - she tells me that is the way they do it in virginia they invite anyone they like to parties - i was like - how do you invite extra people to someone else's wedding ????
now i am sending out the invitations and i am specifically writing who is invited on each one - for people who i think may be a problem i am including' invitation to the reception is by response and confirmation only ' this way if they write more than i alotted i can call and say - ' excuse me you can't invite extra people this is for 2 not 12 '
i know that sounds horrible but i am not exactly having it in the backyard and last i checked i hadnt won the lottery so people will have to understand

thanks - i can just imagine some of the other issues - i am sending out my invites extra early to have time to deal with this kind of nonsense -
i did think she was kind if full of it when she said that - i mean seriously how do you invite a whole bunch of extra people the bride doesnt know to her wedding - but no love lost - i only feel bad for the godkids
but what can i do?
the next few weeks should be fun though as people try to sneak in extras

This thread made me feel so much better! Someone on FI side was invited with her and her husband, I understand they have 4 kids and are from out of state but COME ON! I dont remember seeing the names of those 4 on the invite so how did you deduct that they were invited without even asking!!!! At least those on my side have had the decency to call and ASK first!!!!

So now we are left trying to figure out how to deal with this! It has cause me more stress than anything else wedding related!!!!

I wish I had of done this to this couple! It probably would have offended but it would have saved me the stress!!!!
