what is the most flattering material for a heavy woman?
I have been thinking a lot about my BP and my mom. Both my mom and my sister are heavy (my mom much more so than lil sis) and I want to make sure the material is as flattering on them as the cut of the dress. They both want to loose weight, but I am not holding them to that. I want them to look beautiful no matter what. I feel like shiny materials only make you look bigger, but I could be wrong. They are both stuck on the issue of how 'big' they are. 'no strapless' 'don't show my boobs' my sis is on the busty side!
We are having the dresses made, so they will fit them perfectly- now I just need to find the most flattering material.

I would stauy away from satin. It is clingy and will show every bump, nook and cranny. I used to be quite heavy and stayed away from it. You may want to try a lined crepe fabric or maybe taffeta. Just nothing too form fitting.

silk chantong (sp?) - it's like a raw silk material, but is a lot lighter.

thanks. I am going to check this out, especially since my mom's outfit is the only one that is not being made.
Thanks for your opinions ladies. It's a big help, as always!

I think satin cna be great if it's very thick and the dress is very structured. I have a satin evening gown that looks GREAT on me... because it has layers and lining and a big ballroom skirt. My BM dress for my sistr's wedding was awful..it was thin and A line and it made me look huge.
I think any fabric can be good or bad, it depends on the structure and shape of the dress and the skill of the person making it
ALso,a well made strapless dress will NOT show boobies. I'm a 38 DD and I LOVE to wear strapless!

Thick material. you can use satin, if it's lined or if its thick. anything too thin will show every bump.
