What is the most you would ask your bridesmaid to spend on the there dresses?

I fell in love with this Lazaro dress and Bridal reflections wanted $345 Plus $55 for alterations. I am going to find place with better prices, just dont know where to start. Now I am not asking them to pay that much and I think it is a little steep but I was going to put in the difference as part as there gift and then get them jewerly to match. What do you think of this idea?

Since I have told my bridesmaids that I dont want to have a shower nor a bachelorette party the only expense for them would be the dress and shoes (i am not requiring then to have thier hair done either and they arent big on makeup) - Right now the dress that I have in mind is $290 - personally i dont think that is unreasonable.

I found my BP dresses cheapest on bridalmarketplace.com - but I've since heard they've changed names/owners. I found a salon willing to match their price & saved $100+ on each dress, I didn't wanna go over $150. 1 dress was $150, 3 were $170 & 1 was $217 but that was cuz she had to get a larger size dress & the price went up $40.

I don't want my girls to spend too much on a dress to wear once, so I think $150 should be a decent price. I will try for less too.

$150 is the most the dresses i pick will be... i dont want them getting a dress which they most likely will only be able to wear once.... i think i will be declining any bridal party offers.

My girls were open to any price, but I still felt bad having them pay for a dress they would only wear once. I found the dress for $170 plus alterations in a salon, but on Bridesave.com it was only $120 including shipping and handling...

$250 is what my girls are paying. That seems like a lot to me so, I may pay for their alterations . I have to see what I can afford. I would totally shop around though. No harm in looking elsewhere.

I did not want my girls to have to spend more than $125 on their dresses because after buying the dress they have to get alterations which cost $$$. Plus a lot of my girls are from out of state so I didn't want them to pay anymore than that because they are paying to come here plus other expenses. Their dresses, with tax and shipping came to $122.

i am a netbride girl here - we got dresses that we saw for 220 for 113 from netbride and they were great - fast service, no problems, etc! def try them!

my girls are paying about $210 for thei rdress plus alterations.. i will be making sure they get a nice gift from me. its so hard b/c they are spending so much $$ on other things. I wouldnt go higher than $250. I was in a bridal party and the girl picked out a dress for $350. i thought that was a lot considering i had to pay for shoes, hair and everything else..

It really depends on your BM's. I was afraid to ask them to spend too much, so my dresses are $130. But I have paid around $200 to $300 for dresses I have worn in other Bridal Parties.
