we will be doing it the friday (2 days before) our Sunday wedding. We were going to do it the weekend before but FH family from Italy won't be here until the week of.

There isn't really a norm - just sometime within that week before the wedding. Most times, it's like the day or 2 days before the wedding.
We are aiming for 2 days before the wedding for ours.

We did ours on a Wednesday for a Friday night wedding. I am so glad we didn't do it the night before!

Some of the people coming to the RD, if we do it the Thursday before, would have to come back on Fri to pick up tuxes and I feel like thats a lot of back and forth...

I am getting married the same day as you. I would have liked to have had it Thursday night, but the only options the church gave us were Wed or Fri. We chose Wed, because we felt like the night before would be too much.

Before we set out date I knew I wanted the RD the night before the wedding. However, we ended up booking the day after Thanksgiving, so the night before wasn't going to work.
We're having it the Wednesday before instead, and I'm actually very happy about it now. I think having it the night before would have just been too crazy.

We are doing ours the night before. It's on a Thursday and the wedding is Friday. I think our church told us that rehearsals are typically done on thursdays.

us too! the church was only free on wed or fri. i thought friday would be too hectic, and it was harder to find a private room at a restaurant for an affordable price...so we picked wednesday. it worked out fine!!
