What is the point?

What is the point?

What is the point and meaning behind the 'day after photo shoot?' I've never heard of this. please enlighten me. Does this mean you don't take posed pics on your wedding day?

Usually people don't get to take a lot of pictures the day of the wedding. especially if they are getting married at their reception hall and don't want to see each other before the ceremony.
at least that's the only reason I'll schedule a day after shoot.
I've seen some day after shoots they look great.

I only heard of it after joining the site as well....
Thought it was weird but the more I think about it, it would be cool to do a separate shoot at a different location - we're getting married in LI but I'm from Brooklyn and would love to have pics in Bklyn/Manhattan... I don't think FH would be thrilled about that though - he hates pictures as it is - don't think he could handle two shoots!

There's many reasons for it - you may want pics in a location that is very special to you as a couple but too far to do on your wedding day, it may have rained on your wedding day, or your photographer might have been awful, or you may just not have gotten enough pictures on your wedding day. Another bride said she was so stressed she couldn't relax and didn't like the way she looked in the pictures. Also you may want to do a different look, like on your wedding day you had an updo but for your day after shots you have your hair down.

In my case, it not only rained, but my original photographer was AWFUL and most of my pictures were blurry or really dark.

I think it's a good idea because just knowing you can do this may make you not feel as stressed on your wedding day knowing you can take pictures after the fact - even if you don't actually take them, just knowing you can may help you stress less over the weather or your choice in photographer.

Well, they're called 'day after pictures' but they're not necessarily done the next day! Mine were 3 weeks later, after my honeymoon. I got my proofs back and they were AWFUL so I set up an appointment.

LOL - They're not literally taken the day after!

I am considering doing a day after shoot with my horses... I can't do it the day of (or before) because they are stabled too far from the wedding and no way I want to get my dress dirty and smelling like horses on my wedding day!

After the fact, though, it might be fun!

I am not gonna lie I want to do these. A more relaxed shoot I mean you spend all this money on your dress may as well put it on again and get some more pics. JMO I want to do it and I loved my pictures

me too! I think people do it so they have extra pictures. but to me I would always know they wern' t taken on the actual wedding day. Engagement shoots make more sense to me.

very interesting pictures! Some are pretty cool. But I could never do that to my dress. i am wearing my grandmothers dress from teh 40's and will save it forever like she did in hopes someone will maybe want to wear it again.

Trashthedress.com, This really is a great idea!!!!! Of course just last night my DD asked me to save the dress for her. Of course she is 5 and can't possibly know what she means, but now I will probably put it in a box and keep it for her. I also know my GF's have been waiting for me to get married so one day we can all go to dinner in our dresses! It was an idea we came up with a while ago and although no one said it I knew they were thinking, 'We'll wait for Ryan!'
