Four Points by Sheraton in Plainview is giving me $135 per night ...
i think anything around $100 (give or take) is fine ... but $150 is already a bit too much (unless it's a super-fancy hotel)

I thought that wasn't too bad. Cheaper than the other places I called.

I can't really find anything remotely close to 100, closert o 150, unless I want to send them to a JFK or Laguardia hotel

I would say anything from 90-130 is a good rate. Anything higher might be a bit much.

Yep. It's not too far. Not the one CLM recommended, but it's nicer and closer.

dont forget to take into consideration the time of year as well. I know my friend who got married on 1/2 the hotel rate was $159. Also location as well will have a lot to do.
Anything from $99-$179 should be fine.

Yeah, 10 minutes the most. Should be less. 10 mins isnt' far though...

Try negotiating with hotels you're interested in. We were deciding between 2 hotels so I tried negotiating with both - one dropped in price $10 and the other dropped in price $23. It's worth a shot!
eta: Also try hotelplanner.com. You put in the dates and amount you are looking to spend and hotels bid for your service. You can then counter offer the bids.
