between regulary photography and photojournalism? Do your photographers offer two different packages or can you mix both?? I'm wondering if 'traditional photos' means either the lining up of family for pics or if it means the older type of album. I'm confused....

Re: What is the REAL difference...
its just the style...traditional is just what the name implies, more traditional pics. They will mostly be posed
photojournalism is capturing real moments as they are happening, its like documenting the wedding, not posed pics or anything planned

but even for photojournalist pics you can do your family traditional pics, my photographers is gonna do that although she is a photojournalistic photographer, but other than that i dont want traditional pics.
BUT even with Photojournalist pics there are some posed pics but its just the style of it. You are not sitting there smiling perfectly just staring into the camera, even when they tell you to pose its done in a way that its made to look like it is capturing a moment

Re: What is the REAL difference...
What what I have seen so far I believe traditional photo means posed pictures with fam friends etc etc and photojournalism means when they capture a shot that is not posed, some photogrpahers use 2 photo to capture every shot, moment etc

I was going to say if I use SIB or with you using AG are you going to take pics with your family lined up. I want to do that. but wasnt sure if they do that bec SIB specifically told me only photojournalism

well AG asked us what we were looking for, and i said i love photojournalism and love her style. I also said i wont give a 'MUST TAKE' list which if you are doing photojournalism it kind of defeats the purpose of it lol if you think about it photojournalism is about spontaneous moments, so why give a list to recreate someone elses spontaneous moment. BUT anyways i said as far as traditional just pics with our families and bp and she said yes she'll do those, but she also does them a bit different, not the completely perfect standing there posed pics.
HOWEVER, i would def bring this up to SIB i am not 100% sure if they would do it, but i think they will do shots of your bp and with your family just not in the traditional style...ill see if i can find pics they did of what i am trying to describe

Yeah I dont mind if they dont do traditional style (I really dont like that look after seeing it everywhere) just as long as they do PJ of BM and fam etc etc in their own style. I will not give them a must take list either bec I dont care about that the photograohers know what they are doing and they know how to take 'must take' pics and they have an eye for that.

Re: What is the REAL difference...
traditional refers to more portraits and regular candids and posed shots.
Photojournalism refers to the photogrpahers style of trying to tell a story.
Some photographers say they do photojournalism, but its really just candids. Its super hard to tell the difference though.

well your photographer either will do digital pics or film, so if you pic a photographer that does digital than every album they do will be digital pics..
albums go by style. Some are magazine style, storybook, leather bound

Many photographers don't like the must take list because it takes away from their art and creativity.

So basically photojournalism is more of a candid picture. Photographers seem to have a hard time explaining the difference...I've called a few places and they are saying it's not much of a difference. I turned to you ladies because I feel if there are two different names, there has to be a difference. I defintely like the description of photojournalism better, but still want my family and bridal party to get together for group shots. They will still do this, right?

well then those photographers are probably not TRUE photojournalists, some photographers say they also do photojournalistic style pics but most of it is more traditional.
You can tell a photojournalistic photographer JUST by looking at their pics, the style really speaks for itself.
I explained above about them taking group shots...My photographer is photojournalistic but she will do a few bp and family shots but also its not the typical traditional type of perfectly posted standing there group shots.
Check out angelicaglass.com somethinginblue.com
look at those style of pics and youll see the difference in their pics
