What is the REAL price per person?

Original post by PeterNChris

Can anyone share what their real prices are with tax and gratuity?
For instance what is
85 ++ ?
95++ ?
100++ ?
110++ ?

I get all these quotes and I need to know the real price.

Someone sent me a file zip. but I couldnt open it on my computer. It is too slow.
Thanks in advance!

Yes... Tax has changed... any every hall told me different tax... so I did an average... 8.5

also... Most of the halls I went to asked for 20%... so that is why I factored 20%

I personally would rather expect to pay a higher number and get surprised and pay a less... rather then shooting for a lower number and actually pay a higher one. JMO

$95 pp with everything for us, on a Sunday and we are getting married on Mother's Day. I think that is a really good deal.

Be careful and check your contract carefully.... Not only does my contract say 18% gratuity then 8.25% tax... it also has a set extra gratuity for the matre'd ($500)! I didn't realize that when I signed and now I'm not too happy about it!

The only thing that is good with this is that you dont have to carry another tip around that night. most places say to tip him 3-4 per person anyway. i try to look on the bright side of things, it makes feeling annoyed a little better.

it is usually 18% gratuity and then 8.625% tax ( I think)

I manage a resturant, we have private parties the way we chare is

Price pp times amount of people =

Then that total(total a) by 8.62%= total b

Then total a times 18%= total c

them we add total a & total b & total c

This is the best & fair way to figure out total w/ tax & service.

This is how you would get the real price per person at Westbury Manor (each facility may be a little different):

$85 X 1.18 X 1.08625 = $108.95

Price per person times service charge times tax

This way they are taxing the gratuity. So you are paying more than you should.

Figure it out like this

85
+ (85*.18)
+ (85 * 0.08625)
= 85 + 15.30 grat + 7.33 tax
= 107.63

This is correct. It is basically what I did in my previous post. If they do a pure product (multipication)... you are paying more.

if they don't do it like this they are ripping you off. Believe it or not, I had a man argue w/ me that I did my calulations wrong, when he was paying for his wife's surprize party.

It's really sad that he expected to pay more, b/c he just pd for his daughter's wedding and that's how they did it

Omigosh! See, now I don't feel as bad...

My folks are paying, too, so I felt guilty about inviting 210 guests and paying too much p/p. I ended up cutting every corner I could at every hall I visited (while still having what I want) and getting 65p/p!

in my defense- it's a Saturday night at flowerfield- but in december- so it could be worse

I guess I got a real good deal, I am getting married on Saturday night and am paying 70 pp ++

It is also lower because it is the day before easter.

I think that is the second cheapest Sat night

the Saturday after thanksgiving being the first

but it depends on the place and what you are getting

mine includes top shelf liquor, which a lot of places charge extra for-

You can just add the percentages together if it's easier for anyone. So $100 + 26.625% (8.625 & 18) = $126.63
$105 + 28.625% (8.625 & 10) = $135.06
