The first calculation is actually probably more accurate. Check with your hall - most of them DO charge you tax on the gratuity and are not always open with that info when you book. We did not realize that when we booked and thought we owed less at the last payment than we did. It wouldn't have prevented me from booking our hall, it just would have been nice to know that ahead of time.

mine is $140 per person
and with tax and tip- $180
I invited 225
thanks Dad!!!!
I wonder if he realizes it's that much!
the recpetion cost as much as my new Mercedes! ( the small one)
Omigosh! See, now I don't feel as bad...
My folks are paying, too, so I felt guilty about inviting 210 guests and paying too much p/p. I ended up cutting every corner I could at every hall I visited (while still having what I want) and getting 65p/p!
in my defense- it's a Saturday night at flowerfield- but in december- so it could be worse
Oh, please! It's your wedding... you don't need a defense!!!!
ok so i dont feel so bad anymore either! im only having 160-170 guests..but the caterer total including tax and tip is $31,802

That was one of the first q's we asked when we visited halls. Hennessey; Grey Goose; and frozen drinks are biggies with these guests.

Re: What is the REAL price per person?
I'm getting married on a Sunday night and paying $145 a person (with tax and gratuity). The worst part about it is that people assume you got a deal on Sunday, but in reality I'm paying more than most people on a Saturday!

Re: What is the REAL price per person?
Just so that you know-tax % did go down a few months ago...when we went to our hall it was one amount-when we signed our contract the numbers came out different and he told us that tax had just went down
In essence not enough to really do much with
