What is the rudest comments anyone has made to you?

Original post by michele31

I saw this post on another board and it was very funny. Brides posted some of the rude and insensitive things that people have said to them. I'll go first- I got my e-photos back and LOVED them! My stepmom looked at the photos, which had a pretty filter effect on some, and said, 'These are blurry. I hope your wedding photos are not like this'. They are NOT blurry, the photos are filtered. It seems she likes the Sears portrait studio shot best.

My rudest comment ....

was from this woman at work. I had told her that I had a wedding on Sunday, April 14. Her wedding was on Saturday, April 13. She says to me ...

'Who gets married on a Sunday' - with a face.

I told her - 'I do'!

My wedding is on Sunday, June 23rd! The nerve of this woman - ugh ....

The Monday after I got engaged and returned to work, I was such in a state of happiness that I forgot to eat. Well by noon, I was so hungry I actually fainted. My boss had to call 911 and an ambulance came. I was fine, but a co-worker in the middle of all this said, 'I guess the weight of your ring brought you down'.

Please!

Another ring comment

I had just gotten engaged and telling a group of women who were the wives and girlfriends of my guy friends from high school how it happened and the story of the ring. The center stone is my FH's great grandmother's stone from her engagement ring - very sentimental considering my FH's great grandfather saved every penny he could get to buy this ring during the Great Depression. It is about .87 or so. Quality like you wouldn't believe and to be honest he could have given me a ring lollipop and I would be threilled. So I tell the story and two other girls in the group had rings that were 2 karats or more, just on the center stones alone. One of the other girls turns to her boyfrined and says 'You better top those rings (pointing to the 2 karat girls) and don't even think about doing one like that! (pointing to my ring). OK, what's up materialistic!!! Mind you we all hate this girl anyway!!!

My rudest comment ....

A comment from my brothers wife when I told her that we just got engaged:

It's about f@#$ing time!

Not even a congratulations! Next time see if I call her to give her good news personally! UUHHH!!

tjspidur~ OUCH! I think it's very sweet and lovely to have

his grandmother's ring! Your inlaws must love you and trust you so much to give you her ring! It will make a nice heirloom for your kids/grandkids and an even better story!

Those lovely (sarcastic) people who made the comments about your ring are too materialistic! It sounds like your ring is beautiful (and .82 is big!)

:P

So many, but if I had to choose:
When I called my father's house to tell him I was engaged and my stepmother answered. I told her we got engaged and she asked, 'Are you happy?'

Um...no...miserable. So I thought I'd marry him.

Since they threw out the save the date, you can probalby not invite them, sinc they have no idea when the wedding is....

there are some weird and rude people out there!! lucky we ..

can just laugh them off--some of these comments i just couldn't believe! i don't really have a negative comment but what i do get annoyed with is people who look at my ring and put their finger right on the center stone! what r they thinking (or not thinking!)... i just remembered one thing that did bother me--a girl i work w/got engaged 2 months after me (my ring is a marquise stone)--before she got engaged she would always just looked at rings while shopping---i have even gone w/her.....well, between the time i got engaged to the time she got engaged -of course we were talking about different style stones and she goes- i don't like the marquise stone--did she forget that is what i have? she is entitled to her opinion but be courteous!:)~ PS i don't like her ring either!!!LOLHAHA!

When I purchased my wedding dress (which happened to be a sample) the tailor actually asked me if I was planning on gaining any weight! I can laugh at that comment now, but I can see how someone might have been REALLY upset by that comment!

what my mom said

While shopping around for wedding dresses and hitting every store in a 50 mile radius, my mother said to me- 'why are you making such a big deal about picking a dress, i mean its not like a pair of jeans that your going to wear lots of times, its just a dress that you'll wear one day.'

Oh yeah mom, I definately see the comparison.

rudeness!!

One day, I accidentally left my engagement ring at home...when I got to work, I had people asking me left and right: 'Oh my god...what happened? I knew you seemed unhappy lately...'

Sheesh, give me a break.

Re: Paiz

I am shocked that someone actually said that to you. I have found that people (especially co-workers) feel that they have the right to say anything that is on their minds, even when the comments are rude and out of line. I always wonder where these people get their nerve and how come they were never taught proper manners.

Your post about the Anthrax in the STD made me laugh.

My husband is gorgeous, ok I am a little bias but seriously he is a good looking man. When I got engaged my then friend looked at me and said you must really be good in bed to get him to marry you! Needless to say she is an ex-friend and we will be celebrating our one year anniversary this August.

Tell me about it. Some of the people I work with have balls of steel! I'm telling you, it took all the restraint in the world to keep myself from knocking the 'cheap bastard' woman out. To this day, it makes me sick just to see her.

Re: It is good to laugh about these comments

Some are just plain mean but on the whole many can make us laugh. I think that is really important too.

I can't get over that someone who was once considered a friend said that to you!!!!! How horrible and uncouth.
After reading all of these posts, I just can't believe how rude and icky people can be.
Here's mine-
My dad made some comment to me about how he's suprised we set a date because he didn't think my FH would stick around.

Re: Leelee

I got one better, before I got married I was 32 yrs old so my father didn't think I would ever get married, he words to me were 'keep your mouth shut until you walk down the isle' ha! needless to say he never walked me down the isle and didn't come to the wedding as well. There is a time in your life when you just want to live without the negativity.
