What is the rule with inviting guests from work???
I have relationships with LOTS of people from work but I cant afford to invite them all. I know that some people say 'either all or nothing' but Im not in the position to do that. I know of at least 4 people that will be invited but Im not sure about others. What are you all doing? Do I HAVE to have a guest invited if they are not in a relationship? Is that tacky?

Ya know I stressed over this. People who I thought would want to be there are waivering and are not responding. But I know they would be the first to bit*h if they weren't. I invited a lot of people from work and I don't think most of them will come.

I'm confused about this too. I have people that I am definitely inviting but then I have 2 new people that started in my dept. and I don't know if I should invite them or not.

I heard somewhere that you should invite the people you see socially. So I am inviting the people I eat lunch with all the time. If I were to invite everyone, it would be wayyyy to many. I can't even do the 'boss' thing, because at my job there are too many 'bosses', and when the time comes to send out the invites, I will be working on a different project, and therefore with different people. Way too complicated, thats why I like the social rule.

I'm basically doing the same. We rotate out of depts a lot, so I can have a new team or director in 3 months. I feel bad b/c my old team members have pretended to be interested in this blessed event for the past year, and now I'm about to rotate out of the group again!

I agree this is a hard topic... I have the same problem.. my department is 27 people and with guest I cant invite them all.. so I am inviting my bosses and the people I work with the most and talk to the most.. sometimes you just have to make a cut off.. it is hard but it has to be done..

I come from a LARGE office of over 60 in our sales division. i am close to only about 20 of them so they will ALL be invited. They all know the deal b/c we talk about my wedding almost daily...only the married ones are being invited with a guest, everyone else is being invited solo. And they actually all wanted this and even the married ones said they may just come alone. We are a big group of partiers and hard core drinkers. I think they are actually going to block out hotel rooms even though they all live locally!
to sum up, just be upfront with them. throw out ideas and see what they think. i dont think its tacky at all.
