So, I didn't go with my mom to try on dresses because she is such a downer and always likes to make really judgmental and annoying comments. I showed her a picture of my dress the other day and she was like 'eh'....
***!!!!!!!!!!!! She could at least pretend to like it..sheesh! Anyone else have moms who are like this?

Oooooh Yeahhhh. Love her, but man, sometimes it's just too much negativity! I found my dress by myself in one day. When I called her to tell her I put a deposit on something...'You can't get something that's not silk! It's strapless??? No! It has rhinestones? Rhinestones???' (and on and on and on).... So you're not alone! But remember she loves you and when talking to her just remember to expect the negative and you won't be disappointed!!!

I can sympathize...I had my mom pick between my top three and she was like eh for two of them, so we ordered the one I got. The worst part was that she came to my last fitting like 2 weeks before the wedding and told me I was fat and that I still had time to lose weight. Yeah, thanks mom

yea... i'm totally on the same boat. my mom always has something negative to say about everything. that's how it's been my whole life. i was never pretty enough, my eyes aren't big enough, i'm not tall enough, etc... so it will always transcend into the clothing that i choose.
you learn to just ignore it. moms will be moms. gotta love em.

I really think moms in general can be a little tooo opinionated and critical. For example, I was in a store shopping for a dress (a regular dress not a bridal gown) and this girl who was probably around 17 asked her mom to come to the dressing room with her to help zip up the dresses she was going to try on. Her mom turns around and tells her no because the dresses are ugly and she isn't going to help her buy an ugly dress. Seriously?!?!? I couldn't believe that I heard someone even say that never mind the girl's mom.

my mom is the same way. the dress i love she just said 'ehh' to! so i started second guessing my dress! But I realzed that I am the one wearing it and payign for it , so it is what i like!

Wow!!! I felt like my mother was the only 'negative Nancy'. Glad to hear I'm not alone. She finds something wrong with EVERYTHING I pick. Ugh!!!

ugh my Mom is the same way! I;m going w my best friend and then MAYBE when the dress comes in and I go for my fitting, I'll ask her to come with me..maybe not!

Ya I feel u! My FMIL is easier to deal with then my mother (but i think that is b/c she does not have a daughter, so I have been involving her and updating her on everything). And my mom had the gall to tell me to rethink my relationship good and hard b4 i make it official! I was like WHAAAAT? Mean while my FH is grt, but a lil lazy...i rather have someone who treats me right, and loves everything about me, and is a lil lazy, then someone who treats me like crap and physically/emotionally abuses me (past relationship). So needless to say, my mom is not too involved with ne thing i am doin with the wedding. I just got sick of hearing the crap.

i am SO scared to take my mom dress shopping with me because we NEVER agree when we go shopping. She'll probably think anything that's not a turtleneck is 'showing too much'

Luckily my mom liked my that I ended up picking, but I took her with me to try on dresses and she was ehing- plenty of ones I really liked, hey you never know I might have chosen a different dress if I hadn't gotten an eh from her. But yes moms can be a painnnn!!

OMG I thought I was the only one. My mom hates everything I pick out from music, to my dress, to my bridesmaids dresses.. It makes me question all of my decisions and it bums me out big time! why are they like that?!?!

FYI she never responded and I'm never showing to her again. Geez. Nice to be involved. This is why I'm worried about asking her for any advice. She's a nightmare.
When I first mentioned we were planning, she got all annoyed and made me cry. I called my Dad and went off on her and he said, when it happens, your Mom will be happy and she'll help, don't worry. Yeah, well..WRONG Dad. Whatever. She's just so annoyed I;'m spending $.MY money btw.
