Original post by mrswask
OK - FH and I were talking about a few guests the other night - ones that we thought were shady and possible no-shows - you know the ones - never sent back rsvp card and got a verbal yes from. So FH talks to a friend of his yesterday who we thought was shady and the guys is a firefighter and scheduled to work the night of our wedding and 'isn't sure' he can get off because he is still working on it - still working on it???? HELLO - this is a wedding that you are supposed to be going to in 10 DAYS and you have been PAID FOR!!!! I told FH that if he doesn't know by tomorrow then he is being told that he can't come because I am not paying for him and his wife if they aren't sure yet - plus - we had a couple drop out two days ago!!! I really dont know what's wrong with people and I really don't feel like re-doing tables for the 20th time!!!! Thanks for listening!!

I went to a wedding last week where one of the male guests of the bride and groom went to 'talk' to the Maitre D' because his table card only had his name on it not showing that he brought a date. Turns out, he met the date last week and invited her a few days before the wedding- neve telling the b and g. Even if at one time he was invited with a guest, how could you just show up with someone and not tell the bride and groom beforehand you were bringing someone?

Unbelievable!!! Weddings really bring out how thoughtless and rude some people are...

After hearing stories like this, we told our hall a couple less people than we really expected. We figured if it turned out everyone showed up we would just pay for them that day. Turns out we had the exact amount we paid for because a few people who said they were bringing dates didn't and then the last minute my MOH decided to bring her husband because they were separated at the time, but ultimately felt bad about not bringing him.
