My Fh is Jewish, and I'm not. I've been celebrating hanulkah with him for years. I really don't know any traditions because his family stopped really celebrating years ago. Are there any special hanukkah memories or traditions you have that I can use to help make hanukkah meaningful for FH in our new family? Also, it's a fun thread!

Cook potato latkes, give him chanukah gelt (chocolate shaped like coins), buy a dradle, menorah and candles. Those are the essentials imho!

Yeah, making latkes is fun. She really mentioned most if not all - the gelt and dreidels. There are some Hanukah songs, but not many. Lately we've been buying all the houshold Hanukah items at places like Marshalls like a table cloth or dishtowels and that does make it more festive.

In cedarhurst i bought a children's coloring book with the songs in it! I'm going to try to make my own latkes this year..last year I bought them in the sotre and they were bad, and me and FH both got sick We have a menorah and we bought faulous candles...maybe I'll buy hima menorah for the window in his apt.

I love lighting the menorah and eating latkes. I also like the household hanukkah items - they add a nice, festive touch.
