If you are in a bridal party, (and you are not paying for the shower itself...just favors and decorations) do you think you should give the bride a gift? Also, do you give the bride a gift from you or chip in and give a larger gift from the whole bridal party? (This is not about my shower or bridal party, just having a debate with a friend)

I think you should still give a gift whether it's from just you or the bridal party as a group. JMO though, I'm not sure what is proper etiquette.

you absolutely give her a gift..... my friend and i threw our other friend her bridal shower with one more BM & we got her a gift, and threw her bachelorette party.... limo and all!

I've always given the bride a gift - whether we paid for the shower or not. We always gave a joint gift from the bridal party. Though at my shower I got a joint gift from 4 of them, and the other two (Al's sisters) chipped in on a family gift.
edited to say that I don't think it matters whether its a joint gift or not. But I think there should always be a gift.
The joint guft idea just worked well because we were able to get more expensive items that she wouldn't have otherwise received.

THANK YOU! My friend thinks it is ok to not give a gift to the bride. The brides sister said she wasnt giving a gift, so now my friend doesnt it see it necessary to give the bride a gift either. I just think it is so wrong to not give a gift!!!

I would definitely give a gift. I've done it both ways, a group gift or individual gifts.

Absolutely you should still give a gift. If you chip in on a larger gift or get your own it does not matter, but a gift still needs to be given.

All the bridal parties I 've been in we always chipped in for a large gift whether we payed for the shower or not.

Definitely gift!!! Although if the BP doesn't know each other well or if they don't have the same kind of budget, they shouldn't have to chip in together. I've been in too many weddings and had every different scenario but I always gave a gift!

Without a doubt a gift should be given to the bride. It doesn't have to be a really expensive gift, but you should give the bride a gift
