What is your Something Borrowed

Original post by MrsCM

What's yours?

AND

Do you have to wear it?

Not related to something borrowed but a few people mentioned their garters so I thought I'd share my story...

A few years ago my grandmother passed away suddenly and she was really the woman who raised me. Shortly after, my mother was cleaning her house and she found a ceramic angel dish with a garter inside. I used to collect angel things and we're positive she bought it for me to wear someday because I'm the only girl and it isn't her garter.

:) It makes me smile to think that I'll be wearing what she picked out for me though!

technically it's supposed to be something ON you during the ceremony. I had my grandmother's pin attached to the inside of my dress. So nobody could SEE it, but i knew it was there. And it made me feel so happy to have something of hers (made me feel like she was there right beside me - in Spirit.)

I might 'borrow' some lace from my moms wedding dress, dye it blue and have it sewn into the crinolin of my dress.

i was thinking of doing this too. i would borrow a piece from my moms dress & from FMILs dress & attach it inside my dress.

What is the difference between something borrowed and something old?

This confuses me lol.

I plan on using my sister's veil. But it's not really HERS, like it's not even at her house, so wouldn't it be something old instead of something borrowed?

Does it even really matter? LoL

Your something old could be something old of yours, it doesn't have to be borrowed. My mom actually showed me last night that she had something old for me. It was my bonnet from when I was christened. You untie laces and it turns into a handkerchief. So technically it's not borrowed because It was mine when I was a baby, but it certainly is old.....about 27 years old

Im borrowing one of my best friend's (and BM) tiara. So, its not very sentimental but rather practical but she does mean a lot to me so thats an added bonus that its special too
