I have no idea what my something borrowed will be. It's really just tradition; it's supposed to remind the bride that her friends and family is there for her when she needs help.

Re: What is your Something Borrowed
Interesting, I read that it's supposed to be borrowed from someone happy to represent 'borrowed happiness' I just don't know what on Earth I need to borrow and if I need to wear it or not... I have more than enough something new and something old, I'm still working on the blue also but I have some ideas.

I don't think you have to have something. It's just a tradition. I'm borrowering my FSIL's veil. It actually matches my dress perfectly and I love that i'm borrowering something from my new family.

Yeah I read that also. I have no clue what I would borrow from a married woman in my family. My something blue will be my shoes; a lot of brides are doing this nowadays.. You can make your something blue your garter, or put something blue in your bouquet.

Re: What is your Something Borrowed
I have a few things in my arsenal.
1. I might borrow my moms pearls, but they might not go with my dress.
2. I might 'borrow' some lace from my moms wedding dress, dye it blue and have it sewn into the crinolin of my dress.
3. I might borrow an idea I saw on a tv show. On the bottom of my shoes (in the arch)- one shoe has our monogram, the other the date of the wedding. I would buy blue cell phone bling to do it.
But I love the idea of 'borrowing' an idea from somene. As traditioanl as I am I dont feel I have to be SO traditional.

i'm probably wearing a pearl necklace that has been in my family for at least 80 years now. they were my grandmothers passed down to my mother and now to me.

Re: What is your Something Borrowed
I borrowed my mom's engagement ring and my sister's and tied them with mine and pinned it to my bouquet. My sister practically made me sign something and get reference letters to get hers off her finger but I gave it right back!

I was going to ask about that...what do I do with my engagement ring during the ceremony? We ordered my rings as a custom set from a diamond wholesaler but I can't very well put a band on backwards, can I? I pin it to something? Or give it to someone for safe keeping?

My something borrowed was a tennis bracelet from MIL. I definitely wear it and it was soooo prefect with my dress.

I tied them all (mine, my mom's, and my sister's) together with an ivory ribbon and pinned the ribbon to my bouquet so they were all togheter. Then after the ceremony I gave them back. I could see my sister circling me.

Re: What is your Something Borrowed
What is the difference between something borrowed and something old?
This confuses me lol.
I plan on using my sister's veil. But it's not really HERS, like it's not even at her house, so wouldn't it be something old instead of something borrowed?
Does it even really matter? LoL

Re: What is your Something Borrowed
I have potentially two.
FMIL offered to let me use her garter and my best friend offered to let me borrow her crinoline slip. If the slip fits, then I'll definitely use it because it'll also save me a hundred bucks or so.
I was going to get a Dallas Cowboys garter, but then FMIL offered me hers, which I think is very sentimental. I guess she figures her daughter (FSIL) is never going to get married, so she offered it to me.
