Our friends are getting married 12/07 and they wanted to poll 1000 brides to find out what was most important so they could have an idea where to put the most of their money. I told them for me it was photography, but that everyone is different. So for my friends, please answer this poll! TIA!!!

Re: What is/was most important to you?
i chose the ceremony because that is the part where i will actually get married before God and our families. . . that short fifteen minutes is all that matters!
Of course - it is hard to stay focused on that while planning all the other stuff. . . .

I agree that the ceremony is the most significant, but in terms of money-spending, I'd go for the photographer. When the wedding is over, all you have left are those pictures (and wonderful memories of course!)

I agree that ceremony is most important, but that doesn't really COST much. As far as MONEY - the RINGS are the most important because that is the ONE thing that you have 24/7, with you at all times, to remember that day. Pictures are important, but after 10 years you may have forgotten which drawer you stuck your album, but you and your DH will still be wearing your rings!

Ditto. Ceremony is most important, but not as far as spending goes. Photography is so important, because you want to be able to look back and remember how much fun everyone had and how happy you and your DH were. After photos, I'd say DJ and then RH (well fed guests make happy guests). Pretty flowers are nice, but I'm not going to have more fun at a wedding because the bouquets are prettier or the centerpieces are higher, you know?

I think ceremony is obviously the most important. But in terms of $$, photography, for the same reasons everyone else stated.
And as my mother said 'you only young and pretty once, might as well get nice pictures to remember how you looked when your old'

Re: What is/was most important to you?
Of course, the actual ceremony is very important and should not be over-shadowed. I think every ceremony is beautiful because it unites two people. that said, I think photography is paramount because it captures the emotion of the day. After the ceremony is over, photos are what you left with. I've heard of lots of photogs on this site but FSPHOTO has some of the best work I've seen. [ I wish I used them for my wedding but they weren't available ]
The most important part to me is my first dance with FH. Everytime I close my eyes and think of our wedding- that's what I think of bc it's just us. Those other things are important but not as important as the person I love.

THE most important is the ceremony, but like others stated, it's usually where less money needs to be 'invested'
so i said photography, because that's what you keep to show your children. they are the reminders of the most meaningful day of your relationship.

Re: What is/was most important to you?
definitely the ceremony takes first place! Next most important I would have to say is pictures. I want to be able to remember as many moments of the day as possible. Photography and videography is our second largest budget!

I chose other b/c its really a tie between ceremony and photography. I say ceremony b/c that is the most important part of the day and I say photography b/c that is what I will have left to look back on after the day is over.

Re: What is/was most important to you?
I chose ceremony because that was the most important part of the day for me but as far as vendors go it was definitely photography and then video. Outside of the hall we spent the most on photography.

Re: What is/was most important to you?
I agree that the ceremony is definitely the most significant. But I also think that photography and videography is next on the list. These will be your memories for the rest of your life.
Also, I want a nice reception and party to help us celebrate the beginning of the rest of our lives

Re: What is/was most important to you?
I don't think ceremony really fits into the poll. The ceremony itself is the single most important piece of the day, but the expense of the ceremony itself is minimal compared to everything else.
If your friends want to know where to put their money, IMHO, they should put it into the photographer.
