What it takes to get the man to clean out the toaster oven

A fire.

I do not toast anything. Being allergic to bread products renders appliances such as toasters/toaster ovens unusable. Therefore, I refuse to clean it.

SOMEONE likes to toast massive pizza bagels in there, allowing the cheese to drip everywhere every single time. SOMEONE cleans it like once a year, after much nagging from me.

SOMEONE toasted a pizza bagel today. The way that the kitchen is set up, the toaster oven is across from the stove/oven where I was working on precious tomato sauce.

Then I heard the sound of fire. No burning smell. Just the sound.

I called out, 'The toaster oven is on fire. HEY!' I put out the fire - which wasn't like a piece of burnt cheese smoldering but an actual ******* fire. Somehow, the alarm didn't go off and the only thing that was damaged was the cursed toaster oven. How the ******* wall didn't burn is beyond me.

The response: 'I guess I should clean that thing out.'

Get out of my apartment.

Why doesn't he use the tray?!?!?!?!
Meanwhile, my husband probably doesn't even know how to work the toaster.

eta- also I think you can line th ebottom with tinfoil so cleaning it is like cleaning a bird cage.

Bm uses the oven for everything.

Making on mini pizza bagel - goes in the oven
Heating up one slice of pizza - in the oven

I have no words.

at least it wasn't your fault. had that been my apt...it would have been my fault.

Glad it wasn't more serious!!
